Does your radio have XM capability? If so you just have to call XM. Now you probably wouldn't be asking that if you have a Radio that is XM compatible. If you don't, it is a lot cheaper to add XM through the AUX jack. As far as Blue tooth, too expensive for my blood, and I really don't want phone hook-up anyway. Hope that helps.... [/align]
According to HD Dealer I will need a down load and a XM antenna for about $700.00.
I preferan internal XM radio with the neaterappearance than having an external XMone mountedon the handlebar butthat's a lot ofmoney for the difference.
Your dealers a dope You buy the xm module from the dealer, Zanotti or Chicago HD for a little over $400 and remove your fairing it mounts on the radio. Then you call XM. Xm ready just means all the xm functions will work with the radio controls. I think SE bikes come with the module already installed but I'm not sure. Yes you can use the aux. input to plug in a Inno or Myfi type radio
Why not have both? Buy a xm Inno you can listen to sat. radio or it will record music just like a Ipod. You can even set it to record sat. a night while it's in the cradle. Check it out before you decide.
the xm radio from harley is so superior to any add on, I have been using it for 2 years, just installed another on my 2008 ultra classic, I also have the bluetooth, if you install these yourself, each unit will cost you 400.00 each, I have a zumo 550 gps, has bluetooth, has xm, do I use it for thise services NO!.... the harley units are easy to install... remove fairing, one screw holds the xm radio, one screw holds the xm antenna mount.... plug one connector in and you are done...... the bluetooth is a little harder to install.... the unit mounts in tour pak, a cable assy. comes out under the seat, under the tank and into the fairing, you nned to plug the wires into a plug that plugs into a harness, 2 additioanl wires plug into the main wiring harness, should take about 2 hours to install both... you will also need a wiring harness that is about 75.00 to plug both units in.... you will love it.....why fiddle with aftermarket junk that looks ugly, doesn't work as well and can be stolen....
