That is truly a sweet machine! I have a Harley Davidson trading card with this bike on it. It is series #3, card#239. The reverse side of the card says:

1981 FLH-80
Heritage Edition

The unusual olive green and orange paint scheme harkens back to the early days of motorcycling, when the original color of Harleys was olive green for nearly 30 years.

Production: 784
Powerplant: 80 CI V-twin
Features: Fringed Leather saddlebags
List Price: $7,067

Hi all,
I'm Ray, and I've also got an 81 Heritage.  I picked it up about 8 years ago, half disassembled in the back of a shop.  Runs great, but some items, aren't "correct".  It has a dry/belt drive primary and a belt final drive.  I also don't have an original seat, luggage rack, point cover and derby cover.  All else is original.  For now, until I can round up those parts, I've got aftermarket tins on it, with the original stuff mounted on the shop wall.  Good to know there's a group that appreciates these bikes.
