A request from a friend
I received an email from a member of this forum and we were talking about what he and some of his buddies are doing for the sick and wounded at Walter Reed Hospital and he asked me to do him a favor and here it is. His forum name is atrox88, some of the older members might remember him. Here is what he had to say:
"Hello Gary,"
"We are getting geared up for Christmas at Walter Reed again this year. My club members are in high gear for our run down there again. I have a request if you wouldn't mind posting it to the forum.
I think I told you I do leather vests for the guys at Walter Reed. I am always looking for cool patches and pins. I did a vest for Wes Shubert, a young man that was shot through the jaw by a sniper. I have been doing them for about a year now and have requests for 5 more I am trying to get done. So if you wouldn't mind putting out a post requesting cool patches and pins I would be grateful. The last vest I gave out was to Pfc Donald Axtell, we call him Ax. You can see a pic of Ax on the MP Raiders website. www. mpraiders.com. He lost both legs to the hips but is doing well. I don't care if your use my name in the post. Anyone who wants to send stuff can do so."
Here it is:

I feel that what he does for the wounded at WR is very helpfull in helping them on their road to recovery and this is something that more of us might be able to do since what he has a request for doesn't involve money, it just involves little things that we might have laying around the house collecting dust. Feel free to contact Mike if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Gary
