Default Wiring Question re: ignition switch

I have a three position barrel type starter switch. I am wiring my custom and need to know what the three posts are on the back side of the switch. They are labelled B, IG and L. I assume IG is ignition and L is lights. Not sure what B stands for.

When I hook up, what wires go to the terminals on the switch? My wiring harness I am using has two leads to the ignition switch. One RED and one RED/BLACK. Not sure which one goes where and what wire connects to the third terminal on the switch itself. Starter wire? console wire?

B= battery. This is where the hot wire goes. You will have to determine which feed wire you have is hot, the red or red/black.

Ign terminal will be for coil, horn, brake lite, start button.
L is head and tail lites.

Here is a diagram I've used. The "ACC" position will be the same as your "L" If your running an electronic ignition, some of this wiring will not apply to your build, actually it'll be a bit simpler. I don't know how complicated you plan on getting with turn signals and such, but this is a good basic diagram. Helps to understand the flow of things...

Thanks...It's always worked out well for me. I've used to wire up a couple projects including an old Honda SOHC CB750 Chop.....

I wish I remembered where I got it from......

The diagram looks like the ones in the jammer handbook from the 70's. I still have all of them somewhere.

TDW,

I think you maybe right on the money, I found another thread with a similiar diagram and a link to the old Jammer info. There were about 9 or 10 different wiring diagrams......
