I am desperatley looking for a picture and any info on a HD prototype from the 60's ( I believe.)
It was an across the frame 4 cylinder. It looked like an MV Agusta 4 crammed into a Sportster frame.
I had a picture of it years agao but it was lost when "somebody" did some work on the old hard drive.

You know, HD was working on a liquid cooled V4 long before Japan.inc started making them as well. It was in the final testing stages at the time of the buy-out from AMF. Unfortunately, there was a management decision after HD was independant that there was just not enough cash to finish that engine and bring the EVO to market. There was a half hearted attempt to revive that project when HD bought out the Trihawk and then, shortly afterward, Citroen decided to drop the engine and transaxle that was used in it. This time, the decision was that there was no ready built transaxle that could be used and it would cost too much to develop one.

I believe that is a seriously edited version of the most comprehensive article ever published on the Nova ....American Rider, August 2002 edition, if you can find a copy. Beaucoup pages long with never-before seen photos. The full article was online as recently as a year ago, but is no longer. Sadly

I've seen the Nova at the Trev Deeley Museum.
Great place, I highly recomend it! If you can imagine the bike, it is there.
The usual HD, Indian, Triumph/Norton?BSA along with all the not so common stuff from Japan.
But then there is the wierd/exotic stuff: Hesketh, HD XA, HD Sport Twin, Indian Veritcal Twins, Brough Superior, etc.
Just don't trip over your jaw on the way out!

That place should be on every serious biker's "to do" list. Jaw-dropping sums it up.
