I used to use Mobil One 15w50 but Mobil One V-Twin 20w50 is what I use now.Get it at Auto Zone for probably less than the HD semi-"synthetic". I change it and the filter about every 5K, and when I park it for winter which was today.

Either brand will do just fine. I personally use Amsoil in all 3 holes. Syn is the way to go in an air cooled engine, IMHO. It runs cooler, can handle much higher temps for much longer periods of time, and if you happen to live in an area that gets winter temps, it doesn't turn into mud when it's below freezing outside, which allows the engine to turn over and start easier, and protects it by allowing the oil to flow better while warming up.

Cheers!

I like Mobil 1. Either one will do the job just fine, but I think it's easier to find Mobil 1.

I have used Mobil 1 and Amsoil and personally can't tell the difference. I use Mobil 1 primarily because it's easier to find(most WalMarts and Autozones), and it's a little less than Amsoil. Clammy is right on about using synthetic in air cooled engines. Just my .02

Why would you want to change your oil every 2500 when you can easily go 5 or 6 thousand with a quality synthetic ?

Because some people think that nothing new can be better, and that the manufacturer's self labeled product is always the best choice.

If you're gonna run anything less than full synthetic, use a quality dino diesel oil such as Chevron Delo 400, rather than wasting money on the Harley Koolaid. It's far better oil. Run each for 3K and send a sample of each in for a lab analisys.

I personally prefer Mobil1 15W-50, for the cold startup advantages it offers over 20W-50, because my bike never gets pput away for the winter. The coldest I've started it yet was 29 degrees last week, and no problems yet.

Mobil1 and Amsoil are both great oils. If I was running 20W-50, I'd find an Amsoil dealer. I've seen pretty good evidence that it's a slightly better oil than the M1 20W-50. I probably will run it next spring and summer, as I'm sure my Deuce will get far more than 5 or 6 K through the warm season.

Just my opinion.
