Default ECM Opinions Please

I have a bone stock 07 EG Ultra. I have been putting together my list of mods which aren't many but need some feedback before I throw the cash down. I plan on replacing the exhaust with duals including head pipes and, of course, an K&N A/C kit. I realize that I will need to tune for these mods somewhat but this is where things go south for me. Is it worth the money to pay 800 + dollars for a Thundermax AutoTune with my limited mods or does it make more sense to simply go with the PC III USB for about 300.00 ? Not sure if the autotune portion of the Thundermax makes it worth that much more. I know that there are other tuners out there but don't see much on them. Looked at the SERT but it states for race applications only which I realize is just to protect their a$$ but wondered about the dealer making an issue with the mods if a warranty issue comes up. I am also concerned about warranty issues down the road as I have the 3 year ext warranty and don't want any problems. Any help in sorting this out would be greatly appreciated. Tom

I went with T-Max just because I intend to make changes in the future. If you're staying close to stock I'd say a PCIII would be just the ticket. Maybe even just a Race Fueler or DFO.

I havethe SERT on my 08 FLHTCU and a DTT/WEGO IID on my 07 FLHX.
The SERT was used because nothing else was available. It works great, but you can`t use it on any other bike. If you modify the bike and no matching map is available you will need to pay for dyno tuning. That is if you can find someone competent to do the job.
I like the DTT/WEGO IID because it replaces the factory ECM. This will allow me to return the bike back to stock with no trace. No need for dyno tuning either.
The DTT/WEGO IID setup works great. I bought the RH-TD`s and SE-A/C and tuned it to match that setup. Bike ran great and I spanked a 95 kit with it.
Then I added my RedShift 575 cams. Now I`m tuning to it. Later when I add my 117 kit I will tune to that setup as well.
IMO the DTT/WEGO IID or similar tunerwill bethe best purchase because it will adapt to the changes down the road without the need for aDyno.
The biggest bonus on the FLHXwas no more heat issue`s.

Stro, Thanks for the reply. That's probably why I am wanting to make the right decision up front. I never know how much I am going to change down the road and don't want to be spending more money than I have to upgrading equipment every time I make a change. Ride Safe. Tom

drdeisel1,

Thanks for the reply. I haven't seen much on the DTT but I only live about 80 miles from Daytona so I might check them out more. I do have a brochure of theirs on their product line but wasn't sure which product fit the bill as they have so many. Does the DTT Wego come with canned maps that can be searched for the proper setup or do you have to order it when you order the Wego or do you just do it via a software program like the SERT, PCIII, or Thundermax ? Thanks for your help in making the proper decision.

The DTT setup is a complete Fuel Management Data acquisition system rolled into one.

The Twin Scan II and WEGO IIID pieces allow for recording the engine parameters that affect the way the bike runs. The DTT sllow the A/F Ratio as wel as timing to be modified so that the bike will run as designed.

Like all Fuel Managmgent systems, it will take a bit of Tweeking to get it right, but with a bit of time and patience, your bike will be "all that it can be"

Good Luck

I'll take an indepth look at their products and see if I think I can understand them. Probably easy enough if I just take my time and like you said "be patient". Thanks for the reply.

Go to their site at www.daytona-twintec.com/TCFI.html You can buy the kit. It comes with the ECM, WEGO IID interface module and 2 Wideband 02 sensors.
I looked at all the available tuners and found the DTT to be the one for me.
You get everything including maps to start with. The 3-D and 2-D charts are easy to work with. It`s been a great product for me with good support if needed. The bike runs great.

Just my 2 cents but if you aren't planning on going much further than a Stage I, and you end up getting Vance & Hines pipes, their "Fuelpak" works very well, installs easily, and sets-up in a snap.
