Been watching yours for a while- is it still for sale.  Price seems a little high but girlfriend loves the  color.  I pull a small black trailer on longer trips ( over a week and greater than 1500 miles).  Supposed to hear back tuesday about financing to buy and then will  sell my bike ( 03 anniversay edition classic in black with 38500 miles  good to great condition} not looking for a trade but doesnt hurt to mention it here.  Looking for about $10500 for mine.  But will take time to sell.  Let me know e mail if you want rblondebiker@yahoo.com (girlfriends site- me 60 yrs riding for 40 plus years active hog member for the last 12 mostly long distance trips) Interested let me know something early next week if still for sale.  Thanks,   ROMO

Ultrabash,

You're killing me.  When I upgrade in a couple years I hope I can find a deal like this. Have a couple years left on a used 1998 Ultra w/sidecar and since you'ver adjusted the price its competitive. I will be on the move for just this type of a deal.  Its a good price now.

Oops I seen a little scrape...how did that happen?

Local shop told me under $200.  He said he won't hardly do anything for less than $200. The scratch is only 5/16 of an inch wide and 2 inches long.  It didn't dig into the plastic, it just scratched off the paint.  There's really no body work to speak of under the scratch.  It's a scrape.

Bash,

The market is flooded with new and used bikes.  It's a nice bike with lots of extras, no doubt but there aren't going to be many that have $17,500 in cash.  One of the things that is attractive to buying a new bike over used is the extended period of time they can finance the bike.  Even when paying the tax and fees, they can finance for up to seven years.  With little down payment.

To counter this convenience and today's flooded market, I believe you're going to have to sell at a price that will make it irresistable to the buyer.  $15,500-$16000 is going to get you a lot more interest.  I know this may not be what you want to hear but there's a reason why you haven't sold it yet.  It's the price.  It's not low enough.

In today's Harley market, I don't believe anyone's going to offer you $18,000 for this bike, or even $17,500.

Just making a suggestion, best wishes.

I totally agree, plus you may see it as no big deal, but why would I buy a $17000 bike that the fairing paint is screwed up. JMO.

Oh for crying out loud Maxcustody, lighten up!  Your opinion is not worth 2 cents to me.   You make it sound like it's trashed.  It's a scrape 2" long and about as wide as a pencil.   Sheeeeeze.

What the hell does "grow up" have to do with anything. I am not saying it is trashed, you have a very nice looking bike. I was just pointing out that people look at things differently and I'll leave it at that. Good luck with the sale.

LOL, he's been "trying to sell it" since December. Either the price or the scratch in the paint, or whatever, it isn't sold yet.

Ultra Bash, if I was you, I'd fix that scratch. It'll cost you at least a grand in reduced price...Like it was said, who wants to pay big dollar for anything that has a paint scratch?

You price is fair, not generous.  Its 2 tone color and went for about 20,650+ when new. The solid colors were I think 20,500.

I've got the '07 price sheet in front of me, off Harley's web site (I print them off each year).  Vivid black, $20,195, Color, $20,705, Two tone color, $21,135, Custom color, $21,335
Security System +$325   Regardless, what something sold for new has no bearing on what it will bring used.  Now with the market crunch, new bikes are selling below MSRP.  Others have pointed out other things, such as finacing through Harley, new vs. used, etc.  Here's another thought:

Only two people bid on your bike on ebay, for $17,200.  That should tell you something.  That established value.

My late uncle, a historian and collector of antique tools, and loved going to auctions.  He told me something I have never forgotten. He said, "Value is established when two fools want the same thing."

You had the two fools bidding....But you didn't sell.  The market has spoken.  JMHO

BTW, it's a beautiful bike!

I bet 17200 is more than ANY dealer wiould give you for the bike.Ebay may still be the best way to go but watch the scammers. The 07s are black eyed by many thanks to HD.The whole bike market is flooded, thus a yr or 2 yr bike isnt going to bring what they did yrs ago.For many the economy doesnt free up the extra cash for a bike.Good luck, many are going thru the same as you.

i ebayed an 07 Electra Glide for 14900 a few months ago.

if you got a nibble at $17200, you should have let it go.

my rule is:  if i have something to sell, and i have one buyer with almost the money i need, i SELL it.   it takes TOO LONG to find another buyer.

I figure there is one buyer for anything i have, and when i meet him, i take his money.

there are so many variables in selling a Harley (model, color, options, location, miles) that when I find some one ready to buy, i DUMP it.

keep advertising it. but i think everyone who is on a HD forum is saying "the bottom has fell out, i can get a bike for free" and that is what they are waiting. someone here wants it, but they are weeding out their options.

i found an 08 Ultra that matches my variables (model, color, options, location, miles), its 1027 miles away, but a plane ticket is $336.

good luck, it's your bike, your financial situation, and only you know what price you can live with.

If you haven't already, try CYCLE TRADER, online. I have sold a few bikes there. Most recently (2 months ago), I got top dollar for my '02 Heritage Softail from a buyer in Norway! There are many foreign buyers gobbling up clean, used HD's. The money was wired to me, and he is coming to the US next month to tour for 3 weeks, and will ship the bike to Norway.
And give Ebay another shot as well. While it is true that the big bike market is soft, local dealers here in LA have told me thing are picking up. Good luck!
