I believe harleys are doing what housing did for awhile ..people were selling $75,000
house for $175,000. It was fine for awhile........
but all of a sudden........the CRAP came down.
Now people that paid TOO much for their bikes want the same amount
for them (like the home owners) and they are not getting it.
Like me, I would love to get an electra glide....but I can't sell my Fatboy.
I am glad I like my house (hate to have to sell IT!)

themensh,
I agree with you. I thought I just had to have an Ultra Classic, so I sold my GL1800 on a Friday and bought the Ultra on Monday. Took me all of three days to figure it just wasn't my cup of tea for my riding style. May be an expensive lesson. I've got some wiggle room on the price but not enough to make someone think they stole it! Ha! The Ultra is a great bike but it's just not for me. If I don't sell it..............................I'll just keep riding it.

Sorry your not happy with the bike, good luck selling it, I understand why you have it priced the way you do, but I almost bought a brand new 08 Ultra for $20,000 just a couple of weeks ago at my local dealer, there were also several used Ultras for right around 18-19k including a 07 Screaming Eagle Ultra with 9k miles for $25,000. Given the choice I would buy the new bike from the dealer for $1000.00 more than your asking and have easy financing. Most potential buyers will feel this way. Anyway, good luck your gonna need it.[sm=smiley16.gif]

I took my '07 Ultra to 5 different dealers the other day. I was trying to trade it for an '08 Ultra. The best offer I got was $17k, and the worst I got was $13k. I just laughed and went on. The 2007's have a bad name, and there will be no good sell prices. Good luck!

Sorry, I didn't mean to bash your for sale ad, just to provide a little insight form a buyers point of view, you have a nice bike with some nice add ons, and whoever buys it wont have to worry about a break in period. Tax season is upon us and maybe you'll get a refund buyer. Whoever buys this bike is getting alot of bike for the money, and could do way worse. Good luck![sm=imsorry.gif]

Well, here's my take on it. The "07 is a better bike than the "06, way better. The 6 speed is a great thing when your cruisin the open road and the 96 inch motor was
about time. It might be a hard one to sell. have seen this same model going for $17,000 to $18,000. The market is bad for bikes in general. You might just have to take your lose and not look back. I have just about every model of Harley they have made in the last 20 years and the Ultra is by far the best if you are going to put some miles under your butt. They do have some problems with handling that can be corrected with some after market parts for a reasonable price. Hang in there for your price, you might just lucky!!!!!!!!!!!! Might be a hard one to sell, not to many people are crazy about the color combo.

You price is fair, not generous. Its 2 tone color and went for about 20,650+ when new. The solid colors were I think 20,500. You've knocked the price downabout 1500to accomadate the 6700miles and its a nice looking machine.
As soon as I get my FLSTC sold, will check yours out, It's an Ultra I'm wanting.

Guys I think your DEAD wrong about the HD market getting soft ..i work for a dealer in Kentucky ...I have bought over 300 used HDs in the past year ...the market has totally changed in the past 4 or 5 months thats for sure BUT not down ...its going THROUGH THE ROOF ... tons of our bikes are now being bought with the Euro (about 1.5 to 1)and being exported to Spain, Australia, Belgium and others ...bikes (baggers)are bringing WAY over clean wholesale book at the auctions because of thesse Euro buyers and we are loosing used bikes that will eventuallydry up the market ...I think thatyour 2007 Ultra will sell for around $19000.00 (not the best of colors)...if I were you I would put it on HD Traderand sell it ...

Nice bike, I for one like the color......... tried to sell my 07 SG but was not happy with the trade in and got no "serious" offers, so I decided to just keep it, heck its a dang nice bike, I just wanted an Ultra. Price is ok. you'll get someone with a refund check if your lucky. Banks make it easier to buy new than used and most folks are not utilizing their houses as an ATM machine anymore, so the buyer pool is a lot smaller than say a year and a half to two years ago............ I too had a Wing, 1500. Loved it, never say a bad word about it EXCEPT it was the first, only, and last vehicle of ANY kind I'll ever buy from a foreign company. That just works better for me, not bashing any other guys for buying whatever they want.

Local shop told me under $200. He said he won't hardly do anything for less than $200. The scratch is only 5/16 of an inch wide and 2 inches long. It didn't dig into the plastic, it just scratched off the paint. There's really no body work to speak of under the scratch. It's a scrape.

Bash,
The market is flooded with new and used bikes. It's a nice bike with lots of extras, no doubt but there aren't going to be many that have $17,500 in cash. One of the things that is attractive to buying a new bike over used is the extended period of time they can finance the bike. Even when paying the tax and fees, they can finance for up to seven years. With little down payment.
To counter this convenience and today's flooded market, I believe you're going to have to sell at a price that will make it irresistable to the buyer. $15,500-$16000 is going to get you a lot more interest. I know this may not be what you want to hear but there's a reason why you haven't sold it yet. It's the price. It's not low enough.
In today's Harley market, I don't believe anyone's going to offer you $18,000 for this bike, or even $17,500.
Just making a suggestion, best wishes.

LOL, he's been "trying to sell it" since December. Either the price or the scratch in the paint, or whatever, it isn't sold yet.
Ultra Bash, if I was you, I'd fix that scratch. It'll cost you at least a grand in reduced price...Like it was said, who wants to pay big dollar for anything that has a paint scratch?
You price is fair, not generous. Its 2 tone color and went for about 20,650+ when new. The solid colors were I think 20,500.
I've got the '07 price sheet in front of me, off Harley's web site (I print them off each year). Vivid black, $20,195, Color, $20,705, Two tone color, $21,135, Custom color, $21,335
Security System +$325 Regardless, what something sold for new has no bearing on what it will bring used. Now with the market crunch, new bikes are selling below MSRP. Others have pointed out other things, such as finacing through Harley, new vs. used, etc. Here's another thought:
Only two people bid on your bike on ebay, for $17,200. That should tell you something. That established value.
My late uncle, a historian and collector of antique tools, and loved going to auctions. He told me something I have never forgotten. He said, "Value is established when two fools want the same thing."
You had the two fools bidding....But you didn't sell. The market has spoken. JMHO
BTW, it's a beautiful bike!
pittguy
05-12-2008, 08:43 PM
I bet 17200 is more than ANY dealer wiould give you for the bike.Ebay may still be the best way to go but watch the scammers. The 07s are black eyed by many thanks to HD.The whole bike market is flooded, thus a yr or 2 yr bike isnt going to bring what they did yrs ago.For many the economy doesntfree up the extra cash for a bike.Good luck, many are going thru the same as you.

05-12-2008, 08:50 PM
i ebayed an 07 Electra Glide for 14900 a few months ago.
if you got a nibble at $17200, you should have let it go.
my rule is: if i have something to sell, and i have one buyer with almost the money i need, i SELL it. it takes TOO LONG to find another buyer.
I figure there is one buyer for anything i have, and when i meet him, i take his money.
there are so many variables in selling a Harley (model, color, options, location, miles) that when I find some one ready to buy, i DUMP it.
keep advertising it. but i think everyone who is on a HD forum is saying "the bottom has fell out, i can get a bike for free" and that is what they are waiting. someone here wants it, but they are weeding out their options.
i found an 08 Ultra that matches my variables (model, color, options, location, miles), its 1027 miles away, but a plane ticket is $336.
good luck, it's your bike, your financial situation, and only you know what price you can live with.

If you haven't already, try CYCLE TRADER, online. I have sold a few bikes there. Most recently (2 months ago), I got top dollar for my '02 Heritage Softail from a buyer in Norway! There are many foreign buyers gobbling up clean, used HD's. The money was wired to me, and he is coming to the US next month to tour for 3 weeks, and will ship the bike to Norway.
And give Ebay another shot as well. While it is true that the big bike market is soft, local dealers here in LA have told me thing are picking up. Good luck!
