Beautiful day in the Carolinas.  Rode bike to work then on to Wendy's at Lunch Time.

Pulled up to order and no one would respond over the outside.  HAd removed helmet and shut off bike to be able to hear the Clerks responsed, which never came.

Road up to pay window, set for about three (3) minutes and no one came to the window.

Pulled up to the Take Out Window, clerk says: "We don't serve motorcycles at the Drive Up Window.  If you want something you have to come inside"

Asked why, was told, same line of BS.  By this time, cars were starting to line up behind bike.  Asked for Manager, was told to come inside to talk with Manager.  Asked for Manager again.  Told to wait until he was ready to see me.  By this time again, cars are honking their horns.

Manager finally came to window, about five (5) minutes had elasped by this time.

Real smart $$$.

Basically said that they did not serve "Walk Up Customers at the Drive Up Window."

Has this happend to you?

Thanks

I used to go to McDonalds drive up on the bike and the sensor would not go off at the ordering spot so i'd drive up to the window and place my order there.  Never have been declined service.  And this is in CA...

I've ridden through the drive-thru at Wendy's here in Maryland, other than them trying to give me a soda I didn't order, no problem...

Dude you gotta call Wendy's and say "discrimination" and then advise them that the feds describe a motorcycle as a motor vehicle. Or, call ABATE they love crap like this, you may get a free hamburger too.

Wonder what the guys in the cars behind you were thinking while they wasted their lunch break at the Wendy's drive through.   This kinda attitude might be why we bikers get a bad name and can't get service at Wendys.

I go through the drive thru at my bank(wachovia) all the time with the bikes.  If they refused me, I would close all my accounts.  The bank workers are always very nice to motorcyclists.

I had the same experience at Wendy's about 3 months ago, I had an order of about 45.00, they after I ordered and got to the window to pay said" you have to go inside to pay and get your food, I will not serve you here, I am clean cut riding a bike worth more than any car in the line behind me, I said if you don't want to sell it to me here, then you pay for it, I went to the drive thru for convenience, if they didn't have one, I would have gone somewhere else and from that point forward, I do..... I will not go there in any of my cars, my daughter loves Wendy's, she has not eaten there since.... I told her I will not pay for any food from their company and that if she eats there, she will need to start paying for all of her entertainment and her food not eaten at home from now on.... I feel bad for her but will not support that establishment..... I never went inside never paid for the food, never received the food and told them I would never be back.....screw them..............

If you'd quit duck walkin' your bike, they wouldn't consider you a "walk up customer."

The first bill Jesse Ventura signed as governor of Mn was a ban on discriminating against cyclists.

same thing happened to me at a BK east of atlanta. it was late and the dinning area was closed but drive thru was still open. they refused service so a big KISS MY ASS was thrown their way and off i went. didnt really have another option and didnt want to argue with a 19yo manager on a power trip. i talked sh*t and ate tacos 1/4 mile away.

Perhaps it's called a "drive-thru" for a reason.

Wendy's is a division of Honda.

Did you not read the e-mail to that effect?

Man you guys are serious about your food service.  Sacrifice you daughter's happiness to make zero impact on some large corporation's bottom dollar.   Who do you think is really feeling the impact of your actions????

Maybe the fast food chain considers it a liability issue to serve motorcyclists at the drive through window. How do you carry a large drink, maybe hot coffee, and a bag (s) full of fast food and drive the bike safely away? Just a thought.

I say park your bike in front of the resturant with a large sign stating your grief, and let them deal with it. If enough people raise enough of a stink about it, they will either change the policy, or grow to love the lack of business.

to those of you that think that it's ok for businesses to discriminate against us, remember the boston tea party!

No loss really.  Wendy's food sucks.

Maybe you should have ridden your bike inside like they asked you to.....  "Is this what you want?", potato, potato...  "You'll have to speak up".......   "Can you make sure there's no onions on that sandwich"....  braaaaaap, potato, potato......

Sorry, but I agree with the manager. Bikes don;t belong in drive-ups, especially when there is only 1 lane like at fast food joints. Yeah, speaking your order is quick enough, but get up to the pay window and you gotta lean over, dig out your money, dig the change back into a pocket. Then you gotta waddle up to the next window, stand-up to take your order, find a place to put it, secure it, sit back down, adjust, then ride off. JMHO sorry

Dude you're a riot...now the customers are too slow??????
Everyone knows you're going to be waiting and waiting and waiting for that "fast" food no matter what you drive up in.  A bike adds no time at all.

My vote is because the customer might fall over at the window and sue or something.  Man who knows?

Hey, like is said, it just my opinion. I would never even think to pull my bike into a drive up anywhere. The slippping part though is a good and possibly valid point. Always the large grease lane down the center of those
