transmission/primary fluid

My service manual for an 06xlc only mentions replacing transmission fluid nothing about primary fluid. However some posts are mentioning seperate fluid for the tranny and primary, and a tranny dipstick. Is this just a difference in models?

Sportstershave different motors than Big Twins.
Just go by your service manual.
