I have tables and chairs as well so just let me know what I need to bring.  My wife has a yukon so she will have plenty of room for gear and we have a trailer if need be.  I am sure she will load it down.  She is a planner and goes all out on everything.  Like I said before just let me know if any of you need her to haul anything for you.  I am still considering the keg!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Johnny, I may take you up on that. Appreciate the offer. That'd probably be ideal, you being so close I probably won't bring everything, but I do have a lot of gear. Ya'll let me know what is needed, and I can try to bring it. Ken also mentioned riding up and having his wife drive the cage. We should be able to get a few good-sized groups of bikes going up there.

My wife is going to cage up with our full assortment of gear for camping Ben. We pull the back seat out of the Town & Country and load it up. Since I'm close to you we can throw all the stuff in and ride. Camp stove, grill, coolers, lantern all will fit. I also have a bunch of those camp chairs.

Did someone say Keg?!!!!!!!!!!!!

As we closer to Dragon time do you think it would be a good idea to put a list together? May keep us from doubling up on stuff we don't need. I think Trip is driving too and maybe others. Leaves more room for soda pop.

I don't mind taking others gear with me either as long as arrangements can be made to get them to me before we go. I know I live a little further away than most but I will be happy to make a trip to a central location to grab gear. I would imagine that some of the FL riders that want to come will want you to load some stuff out too.

What ya think?

Totally agree with working on a list.  Again, you are very kind to offer hauling stuff.  I don't have a trailer, but the wife's SUV can hold a pretty good load.  We're gonna have a very memorable time, I can just tell!

Sounds like it's going to be a blow out and even if the Dragon is a bit crowded that time of year, the weather will be awesome and a good time will be had by all.  Keep thinking about what you want to bring and closer to the time we'll get some comparison lists going.  Sounds like Ironhorse cooks up some nice food in their kitchen too -- Prime Rib and Salmon so I don't think we'll starve.  The keg sounds wonderful and I'm sure there will be an assortment of other libations to be had too and we'll certainly make our contribution in that department.  I know Johnny, Todd, Mary and I are going up Thursday evening and would be happy to have anyone else accompany us who cares to come along, bike or cage, doesn't matter.  This is going to be great!

From Ironhorse Lodge:
"Nothing else I need to tell you except perhaps that we always serve Pime rib or Salmon for dinner on Saturday night.  The food is great and the price is reasonable, should choose to join us for dinner.  Also,  we are in a dry county if you drink alcoholic beverages, you must supply your own.  I am certain you will love it here; there is lots of  great riding. "

I have a 10X20 canopy (it's in a big box) and it's pretty easy to set up.  I'd like ot suggest that we check with Iron Horse about setting up a home base like that before we get too far along.  Never having done anything quite like this I'm just trying to cover all the bases and make sure we're not going to plan things that will make us less welcome at the camp next time around (There WILL be a NEXT TIME).  I'll be more than happy to share the expense of drinks and food since I'll be riding but will have little room for extra baggage.  I'll even buy some stuff and meet with someone who's cagin so they can haul it with them.

I don't drink (when I'm asleep) but I'll bring plenty for me and enough to share a shot or 6 at least. Keg sounds great.

I still think it would be cool if we could have a good roaring fire a couple evenings. Thoughts?

You don't HAVE to miss it if you don't want to.  Tell them to reschedule the wedding.

Uhm, you don't need $$$ now. At least i hope not, or I won't be making it. I plan to do the tent camping thing. Hopefully there's something available.

Michele, buy them a nice gift and give your regrets or I'm going to be about the only chick there riding her own.  I think Dave's wife will once we get up there, but I think I am the only chica riding there.  C'mon, it'll be fun!!!!

Ben, we'll need to check with Iron Horse about a couple things ahead of time before we set up, like throwing up a big tent, having a big fire, etc., but I expect they'll be good with it.

Dave, if you've got the time to give them a shout and check them out on that sort of thing, that would be great.  I've got to play catch-up at the office for the next few days and won't have time.

Cmas, do try to go.  They have several different options available on accomodations and you only have to pay for one night with your reservation.  It's gonna be a BLAST!!!!

Ironhorse sounds like a plan.  Count me in, as well as approx 10 other HD riders.  One thing to keep in mind, on the weekend, riding the Tail will get all the crazy crotchrockets blasting by you, in both directions.............it' great during the week.......

DUHlonega riders can go any days, but will prolly want the 3 day cabin deals, if still available.  Thanks Karen, for getting it started.

Hey Brock, I used a few of those trenches, in country.  Good place to season your bungie sticks.........

It will be awesome to have you and your friends along GW.  Contact Ironhorse -- either call or send them and email and inquire about their accomodations and the Kickstand Lodge is right next door.

Glad to hear you're going to try to make it too Cmas.  The more the merrier.    I know during the week is the better time to ride the Dragon, but some of us just couldn't get the off time at work, so a weekend it is.

Well, this is interesting for sure...........

This is a copy of the email sent to them today.

John & Charlene,

The Helen group scheduled for the dates of June 12-15th have a few questions and it

looks like I have been nominated to ask. Since this is our first time to the
Iron Horse we wanted to be very careful and ask first. We don't want to be
unwelcome neighbors.

We have campers that will be coming as well as people in cabins and our head
count keeps growing. It maybe 10 or it could be 30+ so we are wondering if
there is an area outside where it will be OK for us to use as a gathering
spot between rides. If so...

Is it OK if we bring the following.

Awning tent(s) to gather under and out of the sun but still outside
Firewood for a camp fire and a place where we can have a group fire at night
BBQ grill/camp stoves so some of the riders can cook out if they want to
Tables and folding chairs

As we scan your web pictures we can see you have a beautiful and large
facility but being new we want to make sure our duck are in a row and we may
have a need for group get-togethers outside.

Thank you for your time and reply. Will see you soon.

David,

As it stands we are expecting your group to book most of our facility that weekend; as we have all our rooms blocked off for your group and were told to expect 30 - 40 bikes.  Being that situation, I see no problems with your requests.  The more you all book the less possibility of disturbing anyone else.

You will find that the riding here is beautiful and most people are out after breakfast and don't return until dinner time   We have a fire pit and seating behind our pavilion where we provide a campfire most nights.  As you may know, there was a fire ban in this area all last fall and if that is again the case, the only campfire we can allow would be the one behind the pavilion.  We do have other fire-rings available in our camping area, that may be used provided

Michele - We'll miss you!

Dave, thanks so much for taking the time to contact Ironhorse and for posting the email exchange.  What an opportunity people!  Make those reservations and let's go have a blow out weekend at the Dragon!

Excellent post Reksul!!!!  My reservations were made in December!

Sounds like the Iron Horse knows how to "provide & Allow".  Awesome!  I'm very sure that our gang will know how to take advantage of this (and respect it too)!!!!!

Sorry I'll be missing the chance to meet BikerChick, but I totally understand the need for "being there" for good friends.

Now I'll just start "positive thinking" about everyone signing up and getting excited.
