Someone introduced me to Backwoods cigars - can be found lots of places (711, walmart, gas stations) and sound similar to the Clints.  My buddy, who has a humidor and smokes real cigars, calls these 'blueberry cigars'...lol.  I could not care less if a cigar has 'woodsy undertones and an oaky finish'...lol. For someone like me who only smokes occasionally, they are perfect.

yeah Steve, the Clints are very similar, a little more expensive but better packed and also taste much better, the Clints are 100% tobacco, no filler, so worth the extra few cents a stick, I don't particularly care for the expensive cigars myself-seriously overated!!

THANKS for your comments!

I'm a cigar nut as well, bad part, I have found an attraction to the expensive stoogies. I've been smoking the Padron 1964 & 1929 series..and man are they good. The other one I like to carry on the scoot is the Fuente Short Story, it's a 15-20 minute smoke good for a short stop and a damn good smoke if I don't say.

Some of the other favorites

San Cristobol
Opus X

I smoke and collect cigars.  My collection stands at about 900 or so sticks at this time.  I have smoked small cigars similiar to the Clints.  I smoke domestics on occasion but I prefer Habanos.
I just picked up two cabs of the regional release ( pacific rim ) Por Larranaga robustos.  They show great promise but must sit for 3 - 5 years. I always ride with at least 2 sticks just in case I
meet up with a brother in need. i have gifted some great cigars to pefect strangers.  Its getting harder to enjoy a cigar at a bar these days with all the Tobacco Nazis out there.
BTW Cigars Do Not have too cost alot to be good. I have smoked some stellar $2 cigars.  Taste is very subjective anyway so You may love it and I may think its a dog rocket. To each his own.
Enjoy your cigar and smoke slow.

You're right they don't have to be expensive. Where I live we just don't have a real good selection and most companies won't ship tobacco products to Delaware. I have found one company "Holts" and that where I buy most of my cigars.
They have some private labled stuff thats great and a good value..those are the ones I smoke when I'm cutting grass. Keep me posted on any secret gems you find out there.

Sounds like one hell of a collection you have there.

nice to know there are some botl's out there.  i enjoy many of the finer sticks as well, tatuaje being my main choice, but there are tons out there.
i have one brand, joya de havana, that is sold by sj cigars in philly, i believe. they are the only stogie i've found that i can smoke while i ride! the wrapper is substantial enough that the breeze doesn't destroy.  i've ridden thousands of miles on my road king and now my road glide while happily puffing away!

Just got my Clints, not to shabby, should be a nice smoke on a ride. I injoy carlos torano but getting expensive between buying cigars and tricking out scoot. I just cannot stop doing either.

I keep meaning to give the Clints a try. I guess its time.
I traveled the Caribbean this past fall and bought some Cuban Romeo & Julieta 2007 Aniversario's and that was a good smoke. The guy offered to repackage them and ship them to me as Jamacian hand rolled. $230 a box plus shipping. Not bad considering how pricey they are.

I've been smoking 5 to 7 cigars a day (big ones) for about 18 years. I buy all mine from JR cigars and have for years. I smoke cigars behind my wind shield when I ride. What can I say, I got it bad. I'm gonna have to give these Clints a try. Thanks for the tip.

Sorry. RyJ Aniversarios were never or will ever be released. The only RyJ 2007 release was the Escudos.  It is a limited Edition series, 50 ring gauge X 5.6".  They retail for $420 for a dress box of 25. They are fake. All Habanos should be shipped intact with bands on. Reputable dealers will open the box to insure quality. All boxes will have a seal and habaonos sticker and box date and code stamped on back.  Habanos with Hecho a Mano will be branded on the back. There should also be a garuantee card inside that will curl up in your hand due to your body heat. If any of this is missing they are counterfit.  Granted I have seen boxes with botched box codes and occasionally things spelled wrong but this is rare.
My advice would be to only use Habanos S.A. appointed dealers when travelling any where.  The La Casa Del Habano stores are the safest place to purchase. When buying online only use
dealers with references and never purchase any Habanos from Costa Rica they are all fake.  Australia , Germany , Spain and Switzerland are good choices.
Here is a link to http://www.habanos.com/default.aspx?lang=en. This should provide you with a wealth of info. Good Luck.

Definately going to check out the Clint's. My favorite smoke switches every 2-3 months, currently addicted to the Rocky Patel.

Thanks for the head up.  You can tell by my avatar that I like the occasional stogie.  That pic was taken by me in one of my favorite bars in Galveston and there is a cigar shop right next door!!

Agreed- the Short Story is a fantastic 20-minute smoke. So are the short Montecristos.

Haven't tried the Clints- maybe I'll give them a shot.  My "on the bike" smoke is a Hav-A-Tampa Sweet Jewel because of the wood tip. (Doesn't come apart in the wind.)  At home my favorites are Montecristo #1, H. Upmann's cedar-wrapped Cameroon, anything from Torano or Fuente including, of course, the Opus X...

Has anyone tried the Acid Wafes?  I tried a couple of them this weekend and they seem to be good smokes too!  What do you think of the unique acid taste?  Any smokers out there?

Dr. Bill

I tried the Jucy Lucy and didn't like it. I have also tried some of the coffee flavored cigars and same verdict.
Flavors are for ice cream.  IMO adding flavors to a cigar just bastardizes the rich tobacco flavors that and spice that most associate with cigar smoking.
I have smoked some damn good cigars over the years and some do possess flavors of tea and honey, coffee and cream , cinnimon, vanilla, sweet and peppery spice, chocolate and even
red wine. but these flavors are just back ground flavors that compliment the core tobacco flavor.  Age also has a lot to do with flavor and body.  I have smoked young, less than a year old stick and they were lack luster.  These same cigars given time to age, 2-5 years are now great examples of richness and flavor.  I don't think flavored cigars are meant for long term aging but you could always set up a little experiment .  But then again cigar tasting is so subjective to begin with just enjoy what you like.

Excaliber by Hoyo De Monterey and Romeo y Juliet Cedro deluxe #2 are my favorite smokes right now. Does JR CIGARS sell those Clints?

No, JR Cigars doesn't currently handle CLINTS, try www.clintscigars.com, their website lists retailers such as smoke shops that carry Clints in each state on the website.

Try em, I think you'll enjoy them.

All the best- Ride and enjoy the smokes!

Glad I found this thread.  I've been smoking and collecting cigars for over 20 years.  My "goto" cigars are Partagas Shorts and Ramon Allones Specially Selected.  I've got 2 cabs of each that just turned 6 years old that I'm about to start enjoying!  I keep two cabinet sized humidors.  One full of my favorite domestics (Ashton VSG, Opus, Tatuaje, etc.), and the other full of Cubans.  I don't dip into the domestic humidor much any more....

One thing is for certain, I can't afford another expensive hobby!  ;-)

If you go to the website www.clintscigars.com and go to general store, you can order a bundle of 25 for $30 shipped, not too bad or if you're really serious, paypal me $6 and I'll send you a sample of 3 in the mail.  I can get 3 for $5 from my local dealer and $1 for postage.

thanks, Bill
paypal is bvwphdcj@aol.com
