Default LED fuel gage problem-help please

I went to my dealers Saturday and wanted to purchase a LED fuel gage from the Skull collection, part # 75098-08 or 75098-05, but the service manager informed me they would only work on the EFI models and since my softy is a carb model it wouldn’t work.
If anyone can help me figure out how to make it work I would appreciate it.
Of cource I realize it may not work no matter what, but thought I would ask the brain trust.
Thanks,
Marsh

I just installed the Harley low profile led fuel guage on my 03 FXSTSI (fuel injection) bike. The factory guage & new led guage uses three wires: black, yellow, & orange. A starting point might be to check what you have for wires. I can look at my installation guide and tell you which wire is which.

I don't understand why the method of delivering the fuel would matter to a gauge.

Here is an up-date on the wiring. If you detach the fuel gauge plug under the gas tank this is the wiring diagram:

While looking at the plug connector endthat leads to the fuel gauge:If you look at the front end of the plug, the top has an alignment piece in the middle. Now look at the rear (wire end) of plug with alignment piece still at top & I have black wire on left, next (going right) empty space, 3rd is yellow wire, 4th (all the way to right) is orange wire.

Id say if you have same wiring, it will work.

Merry Christmas!

I decided that it didn't make sense that these things couldn't be made to work just because it's got a carb. Sooo, I bought it anyway. Will try and hook her up next week and I'll bet it works. I think my parts guy, who is right most of the time, may not know what he's talking about this time.
Stay tuned.
