Default For those who pack heat while riding.

I have a Springfield Armory .45 1911 Model Auto - a large pistol. I have a CCW, but have never carried on the bike. I wondered how you guys who carry, carry your weapon. I have the little belt holster, and I mean little, that you slip the barrel into that fits on my belt, but I was wondering about a shoulder holster, instead. I'm open to advice. With my handicap I feel like I need to carry protection - just about anyone could overcome me, the way I am now.

Thanks, Hack

I just carry mine on the hip for immediate access with my shirt over it. I have a concealed carry permit.

Consider smaller frame .45 or 9 MM if you insist on an auto....A full house .45 is already hard to conceal and deal with when a pedestrain and not on a bike.

I go with a hammerless 5 shot .38 specialin left rear jeans pocket....I'm left handed anyway, so it makes for convient draw and remains completely concealed.

Another option if you are like me and ain't got no pot belly in the way is to consider a small belly bag designed for concealed carry.....It makes the pieceavailable for either handed draw and doesn't alarm anyone when you place your hand in your lap area like it would if your reached under your armpit or behind your back.

The belly bag is also onvenient when you need to disarm to enter place where guns are forbidden.....No one sees you remove your piece, all they might see is you removing unecessary belt bag and locking it in the saddlebag.

Allthe jackets I wear while riding have a large pocket sewn
inside the left side... that's where I keep it....always wear some type of jacket when I ride..

To this point I have never carried a weapon, but have thought about it. The last time I checked (several years ago) a carry permit was only good in the state that issued it, or maybe a few surrounding states that cooperate on concealed carry permits. If you are on a longer trip do you just "take a chance" that if stopped whatever local law will honor your state's permit?

Texas probably accepts about the most number of other
state's CC permits.
