And I'll even keep it civil.

It is on, in

DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who do you think will win, and why?

With my heart, I say tOSU will romp.

My head, says tOSU in a close, low scoring, hard fought game. 21-17, or 17-14.

How I see LSU...

Tough team. Tough in the trenches. Tough running back. Kicker has good range. Punter is solid. Played in some rough games. Good defense. QB doesn't make many mistakes.

What will it take for tOSU to beat them?

1. Play Physical and fast on defense.. Play a cover 3 and force Flynn to beat you with his arm. Force LSU into passing situations if we can get them into 3rd and 8 or 3rd and 6. We need to get after them on those downs. Our defense has got to get off the field when they have the chance. It will kill our momentum and our defense if we give up long sustained drives.

2. On offense we just need to play our game that's all IMO. Run the ball, test them deep, and keep them guessing, like our offense is usually good at, and we'll be alright. Time of Possession is also huge as well, because if Beanie & Co. can keep the chains moving we can wear down their defense by the time the 4th quarter comes around. I have no doubt we will be the most physical running game they will have played all season, and we need to use that to our advantage. Not to mention but despite close scrapes, LSU is being portrayed as almost unbeatable, it seems.

3. Just sit back and wait for LSU to self destruct and then capitalize on their mistakes. LSU has "damn fine" players but not a "damn fine" coach.

To me, while it is a gross simplification, I believe this game comes down to Boeckman and the OL.

X-FACTORS...

The Zebras.

According to Rivals...
http://collegefootball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=752762

Refs for the game will be an All-Star cast from TB12. LSU racks up penalties like Charlie Weis racks up pancakes at a Denny's all you can eat breakfast bar.

Todd Boeckman, has to show some poise under extreme pressure.

Whoever is blocking Glenn Dorsey.

Jake Ballard. I think LSU may concentrate on our wide outs too much.

This is an interesting graph concerning the SEC *speed myth*.

The chart was made, using stats from RIVALS.COM.

Either way it goes, it will be a good game. I'm gonna say, again, a low scoring game. Some may call that a boring game, but to the fans of CFB we know better.

Best of luck to both teams, and may God watch over them and bring them out injury-free.

I am a Buckeye fan, but I just hope it is a great game either way.  Not a blowout.  I would hate to make a call.  LSU has the homefield advantage and a great team to back it up.  GO BUCKS!

You asked!

I am not going to analyze like you did, but I am hopeing "the Ohio State University" loses another one to an SEC team.  But, in a Bowl game with 1 month off, you never can tell. See what Michigan did to the Gators?  Other conferences!  See what happened to Oklahoma?

My only comment is that these days the SEC is the toughest conference to be in.  It use to be the Big 10 when Michigan and Ohio State would dominate.  At the end of the season I think LSU was the better team because of the tougher competition all year.

Oh by the way,  I am really a Hurricanes fan. Have been since the 70s when they were lucky to win 1/2 their games.  But man I had fun in the 80s.  I still route for the Florida teams if they make it the big one.  Isn't that the way it is suppose to be.  I am a rare true Floridian, not a transplant.

I've been at the duck camp.  Give me a minute.  It takes time to clean 19 ducks and put them up in the freezer.

Field or water?

Ever use these decoys?

Marsh pond.  I haven't ever used any decoys except for the traditional floating dekes.  I've got a few buddies that use the spinning wing decoys and swear they work but, nothing substitutes for willing ducks and a good call to get their attention.  Food in the pond is the key.  Widgeon grass, southern naiad, coontail or eel grass.  No food makes for a hard hunt.  We would have had 21 but an alligator ate one teal and a marsh hawk made off with another teal.  All bluewings.  This late in the season and haven't seen a green wing yet.  It's the opposite of what should be happening.  The bluewings should be long gone and we should be killing nothing but greenwings at this juncture of the season.

Hey Eyeball.  To be really honest, I haven't seen Ohio St. play much this year and at my age I probably couldn't remember much about them unless I watched them every week like I did LSU.

Ohio St.
From what I hear Beano is a great running back.  I think it will be the key to the entire game.  LSU will have to put some hats on him and still be able to stop the pass to the tight ends which I think is a weakness of theirs.  The second weakness to their defense is stopping the pass to the back out of the backfield.  Steltz will have to remain vigilant and make the sure tackle.  Beano will probably have one if  not two long gains of 50 or more yards.

Their defense looks solid and hard to move out of the way.  They match up well with LSU's O'line.  I look for yards to be tough and a lot of power plays.  Their linebacker corps had better be good at stopping short passes in the middle because the d-backs will be busy.  I don't think LSU will score a lot of points on their defense.

LSU

Four running backs, Hester, Williams, Scott and Holliday, and five if you count Murphy will give the Ohio St. defense fits.  So many options will require the d' to remain alert.  So much talent in the wide receiver corps will keep the cornerbacks busy all day.  The question mark is Flynn's accuracy.  If he is on target, look out.  If he is not on target, it will be a lot of dropped passes.  Then you bring in Perilloux.  Run or pass?  Defense will have to play both when he is in.  The O'line is completely healthy now as is the D'line and backfield.  No problems there.
Punter is the real deal.  Kicker is so-so.  Accurate from 40 in and has the leg for 50 but not so accurate.  The propensity for penalties will make a big difference and could hurt them big time at crucial times.

I really don't know what will happen.  It is going to be one tough game.

I predict LSU 22-21 with a last second touch and Hester over the line for 2.

Some nice breakdown of the game on here.  I'd add mine, but I'm having trouble concentrating for more the 10 seconds today.  Good luck to the LSU fans on the board.  Go Buckeyes!

Oh, and Hey Eye, I just took a good look at your speed chart.  I was never one to buy into that speed myth anyway.  That's fodder for the idiot talking heads.  Quality programs always have speed.  The only really slow quality team I have watched was Michigan playing USC in 2003.  That team was slow.  Those few hundredths of a second will not be a real issue.  Real time is getting off the block or making the block and driving through the tackle.  That's what makes the difference.  Fundemental football will win every time.  Whoever executes the fundemental components will stay in the game.  When both teams are capable of executing fundementals it will be a great game (unlike Hawaii and Georgia ).

"Harmon Forecast, powered by Accuscore: LSU will have the advantage of playing for the national championship close to home in New Orleans. Ohio State will be looking to make a better showing this year after being blown out by Florida in last season’s BCS title game. The Tigers are winning nearly 70 percent of simulations by a touchdown on average.
Prediction: LSU 29, Ohio State 22"

That's another...

Keep the ball away from Holliday during kicks.

I'd rather see Flynn than Perilloux. Both squads have seen what a mobile QB can do to them this past season.

Speaking of... Rumors on local radio say The Sweater Vest may mix it up a bit with tOSU's QBs. Looks like he may try a lot of unorthodox plays. No huddles, take a risk on 4th, 2 point conversions, ect...

Same here. A cut here, a juke there... Most players don't run a straight line.

And the receiver speed... They have to adjust to the pass most times.

WOW!

On ESPN Game Day, Corso just said he would not be suprised if Dorsey *pulls a hammy* to save his draft status.

Pretty much said he was gonna quit.

You know.  I used to like Courso.  Now I think he might as big an idiot as Kirbstreet.

I wished I had seen more of Ohio St. this year on the telly.  I really didn't know they had two QB's that would play.

I could never see myself pulling for scUM, even though they are TB10.

Enjoy the Heins.

Looks like LSU has a slight talent edge, no doubt "sweater vest" is a smarter, definitely more composed coach...

I don't know how I missed them.  The only reason might be there was an SEC game on at the same time.  I love good college football no matter what conference.

Seems like TB has been spamming the place up!

Congrats.

There's no shame in losing to a team like LSU had this year.

Congratulations LSU.

Yeah, LOL, the moderators caught me and moved all my new posts to the college sports forum.  A few people got to see them before they were moved.  They could have let them slide for a couple of hours.

Well, now I'm waiting for the Pete Carroll crybabies to start complaining about how they should have shared the National Championship because they were playing the best football at the end of the season.  They'll probably be claiming to have 3 NC's now since I think they believe everytime LSU wins one they get one too.

WVU is more deserving of being the champ than USC ever is. AP came out and it is 1 2 for the SEC. LSU and Georgia, first time in almost 30 years this has happened. I think Pete is a jerk, all coaches agreed to the BCS system at the beginning of the year, and when it doesn't suit his team Pete gripes moans and complains until someone gives him something to shut him up. He should of had to play Georgia in the Dome and then get his head handed to him, but the old farts in the Rose Bowl wanted a traditional (boring) Big 10 Pac 10 match up, instead of a better game.
It was a great game, I'm wasn't so sure of the SEC's speed advantage after that 62 yard run by Wells. But in the end we pulled it out. Only wish there was a playoff system so we could shut up all those other teams. Just keep WVU out of it.
