2008 SG "Smart Siren" install...EDIT w/PICS
I didnt have nothing to do this morning, so I went over to my local dealer and bought the smart siren II for my 08' Street Glide. The install was so easy I think my dog could have done it for me. All you need to do is find the connector that is under the left side cover....you cant miss it...its a three pin grey job. Then plug it into the Smart Siren II. I made sure the alarm was disabled first. Then the siren itself just snaps into the only open spot under the left side cover where there are two clip type brackets that hold it in. Then attach the Velcro to the top frame rail and rout the small diameter part of the antenna wire right in the center of the Velcro....then center it while you cover it with the matching piece of Velcro.....and your done. Then just test the system, and make sure the alarm chirps when you activate/deactivate it.....and that it goes off when you lift the bike off the side stand or turn the key without the FOB close enough.
All in all it was well worth the $60 or so bucks it cost me to have a OEM clean install. I know about the Radio Shack one....but I am **** sometimes....plus this one will work with the optional pager!
PS: I was going to add pics to the post, but it was so easy I felt guilty. I can still snap a few in the AM, and I will then add them to the post if anyone is interested.
Here are a few pics I snapped today for anyone thinking about installing the SSII.
This is the siren...you can see the antenna wire on the side.
This is where the three pin plug was living before I removed it....just under the fuse box, under the LS side cover.
This is the "WeatherTite" three pin connector.
Here you can see exactly where the siren will snap in. That is the only open spot under the left side cover....you cant miss it. I sprayed a bit of silicone on my fingers and then rubbed it on the two clips to help the unit slide in. Do not plug in the connector before you install the unit......just place the unit in its spot...then insert the plug.
Here is the unit installed in its place. You can see its plugged in and you can see the empty hole under the unit itself.
This is where I placed the Velcro with the adhesive backing....you put one piece on the frame rail, and then center the skinny part of the antenna wire on it, and than capture it by placing the matching piece of Velcro over it. You can not let the skinny part of the wire antenna touch any metal or it will interfere with the transmission of the signal to the pager....if you have one.
Here is a pic of the finished product. Nice clean/neat install with the option of getting the pager. Its also nice to have the chirp arm/disarm feature. Basically this alarm works the same as the one that came on my 2003 SE-Deuce. Only difference is the one on the Deuce...you have to push the button on the key fob....and the fob on the 08' there is no button....its all automatic.

Does it mount in the same place if you have ABS?
