I've had a chance to shoot an 86' Winchester in 45/70 and also some various BLR's. The BLR's were in 243 and 7mm. I've also shot various 30-30's and a 35 Rem lever.

I've had a few Marlins and a Winchester that came and went in passing. Personally, I'm not a fan of them. For hunting, I hate the term "brush gun" that people stick on lever guns. I have a Remington 760 (pump gun) in 30-06 that is a far superior for follow up shots over a lever, yet it will still reach out there as good as most bolt guns on the long shots.

That's interesting, because my dad gave me his Savage levercarbine in 250-3000. I've had the opportunity to put a few rounds in her and it is a pleasant rifle to shoot.

Oh yes. Winchester, Marlin, Henry, even Daisy BB guns. If it`s a gun, and it`s got a leaver on it, I want it! I`ve got pumps, bolts, break actions, even autos.,but the "leaver guns" are still my favorite.

Have a model 1894 Marlin .22 that's been in the family since the 20's. Now sits with broken springs, bolt andejector. Enjoyed plinking with it when I was a kid, it put rabbit and squirrel on the table for several generations. Have located a source for parts but haven't been motivated enough to order them.

My wife and I stopped at a gun store two weeks ago and I found a Marlin model 1895XLR (?) 45/70 Government with an engraved stainless steel receiver (elk I think), 6-shot capacity (not a typical 4-shot tube) and a beautiful laminated stock. It was the best looking Marlin lever action rifle that I had ever seen – a really nice rifle.
My wife came over and said, “I guess you’re going to try to talk me into letting you buy that damn thing”. I said, “Baby, I don’t think I can afford to pass this deal up!” She asked me how much it was and I showed her the price tag - $910.00! She hurried me out of that store immediately.
I’ve almost figured out how to acquire that rifle with the least amount of damage for me!
And as a side note, for anyone who hasn't heard yet, Remington has just purchased Marlin.
Not a big fan. But, I want an Uberti Henry 1860 Replica in a bad way

Like the whole dang catalogue amount of chrome (someone stop me please)
I got 8 45-70s levers, 44mag,357, 22 all levers. Not a better time than letting the lead fly with a lever gun. I was on a quad 50 in service. When you set between 4 50 cal machine guns its a rush like you've never had.
