Okay, I know we haven't even done January's rideyetand it is looking promising, but since it's winter and we have lots of down time, I thought we should start considering a date and destination. Now Brian, Robert and David had offered to host us on a South of Atlanta trip to the Macon area and Dino might just be able to make that one if it's later in the month and god knows he needs to get back on that bike. I'm sure it will improve is disposition some (j/k, well a little bit ), so what say you folks?

Sounds like a weiner! Will check with David and see what Sunday he will be off in Feb.
Brian, Dean and I would love to ride south to see you guys. We could come down on Saturday and stay with family. I think Dean will be ready by February to get back onthe bike. He is being very careful with his arm but at least he is able to use it somewhat. He says everyday is better than the day before, so his mood is good. Let us know what Sunday in Feb works for you guys!!
I'll go as long as there's no alcohol, decadent stories, food, frozen cookie dough, or passing out stories involved. Wait. That would mean I can't go. Bah. Count me in anyway. [8D]I'll be there on my 'girl's bike.' Central GA will probably be great after the cold Cheaha ride.

I'm with Ben here AND I think we should all ride a charter bus too so we can sing campfire songs on the way there and back.
Those who know me know I will be riding long before the end of February. Hell, I expect if the temps were more cooperative, I would be riding by this weekend.[sm=biker2.gif]
Brian and Robert, you guys along with David let us know what you come up with for the ride. No pressure or anything, just gotta be fun, include the "essesntials" (alcohol, bikes, leather, bike shops, etc.) and warmer weather. Seriously, the ride and comraderie will be great. Maybe the Atlanta crew can come up with a route to Macon that is not just interstate. I'll start looking for alternatives now and see what I can find.
I know you can hop off 75S at Griffin (Hwy. 16 and cut over) and take old Hwy. 41 South out of Griffin. It's not scenic like up around Helen, but it's farm land and more interesting than interstate. Brian are you off of Hwy. 18 at Forsyth? As you can hop onto Hwy. 18 from Hwy. 41. Or 41 basically becomes Hwy. 341 which will take you down to Hwy. 74 which will cut you over to Macon. Either way, it's basically just a detour for a change of scenery for you N. of Atlanta folks and will eat time versus just taking the interstate.

I've driven Hwy 18 between Forsyth and Gray and it's a pretty fun road. I checked mapquest and about half way between Hwy 23 and Gray is a cut off (Upper River Rd) that looks like fun to and runs right into Macon. Hwy. 41 comes right into Forsyth so we could easily ride the whole way w/o getting on the interstate. Hwy 41 runs through Jonesboro and Griffin and those of us coming from the metro area around Jonesboro could take that route to Griffin. The only thing is meeting up with Brian and company. If we all meet in Forsyth it should be a fun ride into Macon.I don't have a prefered date so I'll go with the crowd. Since the Jonesboro area is my stompin grounds I could offer some good suggestions about where to meet and head south from there if anyone's interested.
Alright, here's the scoop. Just got off the phone with David and his next "long weekend" in Feb will be the weekend starting on the 23rd, which is Sat, Sun, Mon, etc. Now, if you peeps want to ride on an earlier Sunday, that will be ok. David will be bummed, but he understands.
Just got an email from the CVMA GA Chapter President that they want to shoot for a ride to Columbus, GA on the 16th or 17th of Feb. So, I may have to take off from work if it's on Sat the 16th and that will leave Sun the 17th open for me for our ride. But, if it's on Sun the 17th, then I will ride to Columbus. Hell, since I pay dues for this organization, I may as well attend the rides/meetings.
So, I choose the 3rd, 10th or 24th. Either one works for me.
(edit) Oh yea, as far as where to ride, eat, drink, sleep, ****, shower, shave, etc., I know a few roads we can fiddle-fart around on. Robert and David may know better roads since they've lived here longer than I have. I just ride until I get lost and try to find my way back, makingmental notes "Hmmmm, this is a good road to ride." Then, I forget it when "Oh look, a dead possum.....he's pretty flat." Places to eat/shop, well I have no idea...
I can't think of a thing we've got going on the 24th and would love to be able to include David since he only gets to do this once a month. That will give Dean plenty of time to get his strength back in that arm too, but whatever works for the general concensus.
