Default Always someone better!

I was one of the first (several thousand)to get a Texas license. I have a 4 digit number.

The day I went for my class, it was a really cold day in Janurary. Only four guys showed up for class, myself, two other "normal" working guys, and a guy that looked like the guy on the TV show "Northern Exposure" that was the retired astronaut.
This guy pulled up in a new Lincoln, got out wearing an expensive western suit, custom cowboy boots and carrying a hand-tooled leather briefcase.
During class he sat there with his feet on the desk and an expensive cigar in his mouth.
Don't get me wrong, he was a nice guy, just out of place with the other three of us.

Now let me say something about myself and my shooting. I have been shooting handguns for over 50 years, and I have probably run more than a million rounds in my lifetime. I have competed in handgun competition. I am very confident in my skills.

So, it comes time for us to qualify. And Mr. Richguy opens that hand-tooled case and pulls out a nickel-plated Colt 1911A, completely inlayed with gold, with pearl grips that also havegold inlay.

Meanwhile, the rest of us open our zippered cases and pull out whatever we have. In my case it was a Berretta 92F.

We line up in the range. I am in the first stall, the other two guys are number 2 and 3, and Mr. "I have too much money" is number 4.

We all go through the complete 50 rounds, a mix of slow and rapid, as required.

The instructor starts with me. He reels in my target and says "it looks like we have a high score here - 248 out of 250" He checks the next guy and he has 2something. He checks the next guy and he also has 2 something. He then goes to the guy with everything and reels in his target and says "we have a new winner - a perfect 250"

The rich guy leaned back and looked at me and said "not bad shooting sunny".

I could not believe it..............................the story of my life.

Put you back in your place. Just shows that the rich can also be competent.
