It really depends on what you want. The classic Sailor Jerry or ancient like a tribal. I've got a masonic tatt. Check out http://www.tattoofinder.com/. Get something that has some meaning otherwise your'e just in the chair for a bit of pain and a pic you'll regret later.

Nice... I currently have 6 (but one is covered, so 5) I have the wife's name on my wedding ring finger, both my daughter's names on my left shoulderblade, my take on "man's ruin" on my right shoulderbalde, and my latest is a large dragon on my right bicep (for my youngest who was born in the year of the dragon).
My only advice to you, is to make sure you get something that you can live with, forever... Get a great artist to do it... check their work, and don't skimp on cost... it will be with you a long time, so cost should not even be a thought... I perfer to stay away from flash, and perfer to have a custom piece done... nothing sucks more than seeing the same tattoo you have, on someone else...
Outside of the big swatztica on my forhead.....I have one that says Mom with a heart with a dagger going through it on the inside of my forearm....its still looks plenty good and was done in 1984 for like $80 bucks! I'll be getting more this Summer I think though.....???

Think long and hard about this. Like it was, said it is going to be with you forever. Find/design something the jumps at you, something you just can't live without. I have 4, and I don't regret any of them. Found each one, waited for a couple of weeks, and then went back to see if I still wanted them. 3 werecustom, and1 was redesigned.

Here's my latest (right thigh). It is a collaboration by two artists. We are going to dress it up with an old-fashioned gas pump and some other nostalgic stuff.
I have an appointment for 6-8 hours on Thursday and, hopefully, after almost two years, two artists and something approaching 50 hours, my backpiece will be done.
