Hello
Just joined. I live in western PA, 30 miles north of Pittsburgh.
I have an 07 Road King Custom. And . . . . . .it is my second Road King Custom in the past 7 months. Last August, when my first one was only a month old, an 80 year old man in an SUV turned right across my path while I was going about 6mph. Well, needless to say, that was the end of Road King #1 and my ribs.
I managed to make it through 22 years and 9 different bikes without an accident. I hopeI get another 22good years now!
As for the bike,I grew up on sport bikes, so the Road King was a stretch for me. I'm 45, so I was ready to settle down a bit, but not completely! So I got the most strippedbagger I could get. That's why the custom appealed to me. Then I got rid of the cartoon beach bars in favor of dresser bars, added bar end mirrors (something I've never seen on a Road King), white letter tires, andCycle Shack shorty duals (again, something I've never seen on a bagger). The overall look is aggressive and sporty, which is what I was going for. No extra chrome, fringes, and extra doo dadsfor me. That's not my style.
Thanks for the welcom guys. Buy the way, here's a picture of old #1 Road King Custom (which was bought by the Harley dealer, fixed, and now wears white sheet metal!) I had bassanis true duals on that one but. . . . they got crunched in the accident. Bassani would sell parts, just whole exhaust sets, so I decided to go much cheaper with the Cycle shacks.
Beware of bassani. They are nice pipes, but you'd better not need a part! They won't even sell you an end cap! You have to buy an entire set!
