I guess you've never heard of Budgie:

A Welsh band from the 70's who are still going strong.

Budgie were one of the very first heavy metal bands. A lot of bands have covered their music over the years including Iron Maiden. It's a shame so few people have heard of them because they deserve a wider recognition. They were playing in Cardiff last weekend. It's not far from me but I couldn't make it. They're doing a tour in Australia soon.

I haven't listened to a lot of King Diamond. I heard some on the radio a few weeks ago. It's interesting stuff but a bit of an aquired taste.

I dug out an old Barclay James Harvest Album last week that I haven't listened to in years. This is a track called Rock & Roll Star:

Pink Floyd copied it some years later and turned it into Another Brick in the Wall.

yeah.. king definitely isnt for everyone...once you get past the initial shock of the voice, the make-up,the imagery...the guy can really tell a story [most of them horror mind you] seen him live w/ mercyful fate [original band] and king diamond a few times.. and never ceases to amaze me.

that barclay james harvest song is sorta mellow for my tastes.. but well written/produced
also has the riff from "one of these nights" in there along w/ some santana-esque guitar work....pretty cool
here's a goodie...from another very covered band ....not much of a video.. but the song sure rocks!
