I have a chance to pick up a couple bikes really cheap (one and ?? basket cases). The guy posted a couple pics of the bike (attached) and said that it was a 1973 'custom springer'.

From these pics, what can you tell me I'm looking at? I'm going to look at it in person within the week, I'm just curious what you guys think.

What's that fender off of?

It's an Ironhead Sportster on a rigid frame.A custom chop project.I'm not sure what the last year of the kickers were on Sportsters but I believe it was early '70's

Fender,Tank,Springer front end,frame,oil tank etc.,are not original...................looks like a nice project though

There's another later year Ironhead that I'm looking at also. Want to check both out and see which one I like better.

If the price is right I say grab 'em.I love the old Ironheads and have actually been looking around for one like that myself.Something on a rigid thats runnig but needs to be finished.People seem to be asking too much these days and it's getting harder and harder to find a deal anymore.
