Default Hello everyone

I'm the newbee today, but have been riding for awhile. On my third harley which is currently an 02 softail standard. Ive got a bad case of (the grass looks greener on the other side) everytime i go to the toystore. anyway, check out my website if you would like, and Im going to try and get some updated pics on there because my bike has undergone some changes. Which brings me to a question for anyone who would like to take a stab at it. The seat post on a FXST frame. What is its purpose? for looks, or does it have some structural capacity. Its a light piece, and while making some changes, i've decided that If possible, i would like to leave it off. Or, if necessary, have something custom made because the area is currently exposed and it looks pretty ugly.
