On several occassions I've given a ride around the parking lot to folks that simply wanted to know what it's felt like to ride in a sidecar - usually kids.

I since have stopped doing it - worried about liability.  Now, if they ask, I just say, "Gee, I'd love to, but I don't have another helmet."  That usually solves it.  Yesterday, a guy's daughter wanted to ride and I gave them the helmet story.  "No problem." dad says and got one off his bike.  I gave her a ride.  I reckon I'll just tell 'em the truth - liability issues.

So I figured I'd run this little poll.  I tried to cover all angles.

I'll give a ride to anyone who asks (unless he has a mask on, holding a bag of money in one hand and a pistol in the other).

Had a couple close calls when very overweight peoples wanting a ride.  One person was so big they had to leave one leg hanging out the side?

I suppose in todays day and age it wuld behoove me to limit it to frends and family.

Hey eglidetrike1, that is good for you, but for me and badinfluence63, we don't have that pleasure, what with the passenger in the hack and not holding on for dear life behind us..

Does your wife know why you so willing to give a ride under the proper conditions?

Hack

Sidecars have always drawn extra attention and msot of it good. Most people want to know all about the 'rocking chair'.

Every June our delership and HOG club go to the MDA camp in Canton Mass. to give the kids rides. There's usually three to five sidecars and the rest of the group has a motorcycle show for the kids. Some of these kids are in advanced stages of muscular dystrophy and have very little control over their muscles but, they sure can SMILE! Everyone has a ball and liability be damned.
So yea, I'll give anyone a ride.

I took the Passengers pegs off and the two up is being replaced by a solo seat so I can't do it.
Some one that doesn't listen to you on how to ride with you can kill both of you.

Sure I'll give rides on my trike......especially to people considering buying one....I actually had 2 different people I had never met before let me ride their trikes......Their kindness allowed me to make the decision to go with trike instead of sidecar....
Of course I can't say that I'm trusting enough to let someone go on my trike....but a ride....definatly..

If some one is thinking on a trike, a dealer that has trikes with let you ride one of his trikes so you can get the hang of it, When I trike my bike , It's the same rules, NO ONE RIDES MY BIKE because, # 1 if its triked then they don't know how to drive it. #2 Insurance cost to much #3 My Insurance company ask who was going to ride my bike I said " ME" only.So you best bet is to figure out what to say before.

OLD SCHOOL ..... if you ride my bike..... you would ride my OL or worst yet my GF too.
