Default garage door opener

Ifn any of youins install a HD garage door opener(opens garage door with a flick of the head light switch) on your softail, DO NOT follow the directions where it tells you to take the fuse block off. Looks simple on the directions but their is a liitle more to it than as stated:" take out 2 bolts on fuze block bracket, pull away from frame and depress indent to release fuze block". BULL CHIT. It a bitcsh. All you have to do is take the battery out ( you would have to take it out anyway to get it out of the way ) then take the wire with the end on it and insert it in the bottem of the fuze block in the empty hole. If you need to see the hole in fuze block stick you a mirror down their. If i had done it that way instead of folowing that part of the directions I could have saved a hour of wresting with taking the fuze box out.

Just a tip to save you from inventing some new cuss words. Happy Motoring, hArRy[8D]

Yes, it works great. But make sure you are back about 20 feet when programming it. I called and complained to the MC/dealer/here until I was told to move back and have been happy since.

Save some time and $$$. For a DIY system try this link.GD opener
Or one of these.
GD opener 2
GD opener 3
I did the DIY. Already had an extra remote so cost nothing to do. If you can run 2 wires you can do this no problem.

what's up Harry, i did the same thing you mentioned above. i was messing around with the fuse block for almost an hour before i decided to pull the battery out. Im having a hard time finding the headlight wires down by the fuse block. I dont want to run the wires all the way to the frnt like the instructions say. I would like to tap into the harness towards the back or near the fuse block. Any suggestions ???? thanks

I had one installed on my bike before I picked it up. Lasted 4 months, then died. Warrenty is only 90 days. That was a waste of $150. Won't do that again.

Damn guys, I got this great solution - I leave my garage door opener in my helpmet, I took the clip off and I put the small thing in my pocket when I go out? And you know what - it means that if someone steals my bike, or if I leave it in the driveway, they can't open my garage door.

It's the same reason I don't program or leave an opener in my car that stays outside. Programming those things, or leaving a garage door opener hanging on the sun visor, is like leaving a key to your house outside and labelled...

My H-D garage door opener works better than the ones we have for the cars!

Just toggle the hi beams and I'm in!
