Default Chopping circles from Fatboy wheels 101

This is an easy way I found to chop the circles out of Fatboy wheels.

First a refresher on tires and wheels in general, just to give another look, "in other words" at chopping tires and wheels in general.

Here is a typical pic, grass and date stamp and all. I have already increased the canvas size to make it easy to work on. Image> Canvas Size.

Here is a refresher of how the tire is selected and paintedwith the elliptical selector and paint brush, as demonstrated in another 101here:

Everything in this tut presupposes that you have read the tut in the link above.

Here the tire is being painted. The color picker was used to get the black:

Here is a demo of the eraser tool being used, after inverting the selection,on the outside of the tire, again asexplained in the link above:

Here's is the painted and chopped tire. I find that if after erasing around the tire I again invert the selection and paint the inside edge, I get a smoother result but you can experiment for yourself.

Here it is against a red bg. Again, everything so far is shown in the link above.

Now I want to get rid of the flare on two points of the wheel as it spills over onto the tire. This isn't necessary, it's just a demo.

I select around the wheel with the elliptical, invert the selection and paint the tire. I use the color picker to get the black color. (looks like an eyedropper, just above the two square color palettes in the tools palette, left of screen.)

If the shape of my selection is good and round but too large or small, I can adjust the size with Select> Modify> Expand/Contract.

Here it is painted around the wheel.

Now to those pesky holes in Fatboy wheels. They're really easy.

First, use the elliptical selector and its transform tool to get a circle the size of the hole you need to chop.

Youcan movethe circlewhile the elliptical selector is still chosen. In fact you must keep the elliptical selector in play for this to work.

Once the selection is made, hit the Del key. Presto.

Now here's the good news. You don't have to make this selection again. You just move the circle of "crawling ants" to the next hole, but you must still have the elliptical selector chosen, always.

Just movethe circle of antsand hit the Del key as many times as you have holes. Hey, this is also very fast.

As fast as you can hit Del and then move the selection over the next hole and hit Del again, that's how fast you can do this.

Note the the hole just tothe left of the lower slider is chopped off behind the slider. That's easy. Just choose the polygonal lasso, hold the alt key, and deselect the straight part along the slider as shown below.

Again, holding the alt key subtracts from the selection and holding the shift key adds to it.
