If I knew that the 08's were in purple I wouldn't have gotten the sunglo red.

Why is it, some 08's like red one above, have a chrome HD logo on the tank, and some, like the purple one, just get a vinyl one?

What exactly is it. Is it a 105 anniversary bike in Red or Black, or what?
I mean, I thought all Ultras are the same except the copper top series and the Screamin' Eagle bikes. What do they call an Ultra like yours and what do they call the ones with the tank badges?

ALL Ultra's get the chrome tank badge except custom color models ( Purple Haze, Copperhead and Red Hot, and Golden Glow and Black Glow). Custom Color units as well as Classic's and standard Electra Glides get the decal.
Custom color Ultra's should get the Chrome badges as well in my opinion.

I agree with you, and I think the Classic could stand a better decal or a smaller Chrome badge.

It is just a replacement of the 07 that got totalled. I don't care about the tank badge or it is an anniverasy, the bike at at the dealership and bought it without much thought in it. that is all. It is sun glo candy red and it is an 08. What is the big fuss on it?

No, you're taking this the wrong way. I'm not talking about your bike.
Here's the problem, at least for me.
An Ultra is an Ultra is an Ultra, or at least that's the way I thought it was. However, some have the really nice tank badge and some don't. Basically, what i was trying to figure out was do the ones with the nice tank badge cost more, or are they a different trim level. I have never seen anything that was in the litereature to suggest there was any thing but Ultra in black, then color, then two tone, then anniversary bikes. So what is the difference with the ones with no tank badge.
Turns out the special edition paint bikes have a tank sticker and cost more than the regular Ultras that have the chrome tank badge. Go figure!
to confuse me even more, the fella above with the purple bike said it was going to cost $1000 to have the tank badge on his bike. I guess that's what the stealer wanted to repaint the tank on his bike and ad a tank badge.
