A group from Connecticut will be heading up to Americade on the 5th-7th. Usually just 4-6 of us, but this year a large group from our riding club wants to go. Were staying at Lake george Escape campground. We dont ususally do the "tours" as way too many people that have never done a group ride go and IMHO its not the safest thing. We head out on our own and enjoy a day at the vendor area.

Fun watching the scoots up and down main and Canada St. Great mix of diffrent bikes.

Was thinking about taking a trip out there for 4-5 days from michigan don't have any actual plans yet just going to wing it if I go. Can anyone recommend a good camping spot for night time action?

Theres a campsite as soon as you roll into lake george on canada st.
its on the right heading south.
across from holiday inn.
you can see all the action from there as well and a small diner across the street if it's open yet.
I would try to stay there, most likely you will see me getting pulled over for loud pipes....lol
if i can find the name of it i will post it.
i'll do a search.

Lake George Escape is actually a nice campground. Pretty hoppin place at night and honestly they dont seem to mind alittle roudiness.

Its alittle more pricey then some because of the amenities, Pool, Large Store, Breakfest Buffet. I know there is a place on Canada St that is right off the main drag. From what I have heard its pretty primative.

HOW DOES  THIS COMPARE TO LACONIA? LACONIA HAS BECOME OVER POLICED AND MORE LIKE A FAMILY EVENT.

Very family oriented compared to most rallies.  Americade tends to get a lot of touring bikes.  There are more than a few wingers that attend Americade.  The first year I went, I thought I stumbled on the Honda Hoot.

I normally head up for one day just to check out the some of the vendors or get in a couple of demo rides.  But, that it about it for me.

I know it's got a lot of honda crap and all
But it does have some pretty cool things going on.
It don't compare to laconia.
But look at the bright side of things, It's a few days without the rugrats!!!!
Saturday will be the best nite with all the police chasing us....lol
And i also saw on another forum that the wingers dont like us.
(said must harley crews are loud and seem to cause most of the problems)
That alone makes me want to go :)

My wife & I are in CT too (Monroe, between Trumbull & Shelton), and are going to head up the morning of the 5th.  I was originally going to go up the I-84 -> I-87 way, but the 22 route sounds interesting - how much longer is that way (3.5 hours currently)?

Also, are you guys going to register with the wristband thing, or just do the day-by-day pass to get into whatever events you want?

Sean
