Worst bug story, I hit a swarm of bees at around 65, coolest part was it killed all of them so quick none were able to sting me but god what a sticky mess to clean up. I think I used something like nail polish remover on my jacket but I just threw my sun glasses away. And I've hit birds too, I used to think it was cool to run threw bunches of seagulls on the ground until one hopped up and hit me square in the chest at about 35 it knocked the wind out of me and needless to say hurt like a sombich.I've also hit dogs, cats, possums and squirells but those stories aren't very amusing just sad.

I was riding my quad in New Mexico, and I was on this nice lil' trail, at night! Well, I came down an hill and had to turn, I hit a patch of really loose dirt, so I did what anyone else would do... I nailed the throttle and rooster tailed dirt everywhere!! Unfortunately for me, it was a fire ant hill!!! One went up my shirt and bit me on the back!! So I threw my shirt off and shook the hell out of it. About 5 minutes later I was riding again, and the d@mn thing bit me again!!

It ran in front of him out of nowhere! Of course we just kept going!

Oh yeah! Taking my sons down to Dumont Dunes for the week - leaving here shortly. It's 3:15 AM in CA. Couldn't sleep - I think I'm more excited about the trip than my kids : ) Took another bee sqaure to the lip yesterday at about 50. Getting tired of the damn things. Fire ants...Got an armful of bites that took a month to heal...In the middle of a live fire exercise down at Camp LeJeune. THose things truly suck. These guys were about 1/4-1/2" long.

In my area (Georgia) grasshoppers seem to seek me out, but ,by far my worst experience was with a buzzard. Riding on a county road at about 50mph and out of tall weeds he tries to cross in front of me, clips the right mirror and tumbles into my chest and then over my left shoulder. Me and the bike both got squirrelly for a second but all ended well (exect for the buzzard). I had the same thing happen this past fall (also in GA), but I was doing about 60 and went for a wild ride off the shoulder of the left side of the road for a little while, luckily out in the middle of nowhere. I was able to straighten it out quick and get right back on the pavement, but it was not fun. Danged bird crapped all down the side of my clean bike just for spite. As for bugs, I had a wasp or bee or something sting me through the shirt even though it splattered- I guess they lead with the stinger... My worst encounter with a bee (not riding) was many years ago I had one fly in my cup while hanging out with some friends. I drank him with a swallow of beer and he stung me on the back of the tongue. It swole up so much I had to go to the emergency room after a while because I was afraid I might suffocate if my throat and tongue kept swelling. It hurt like you wouldn't believe, but at least my buddies got more than a few laughs out of it. I still remember that Doc with a foreign accent saying "I have not seen this before....ever!"

Going about 60 miles per hour last spring and Two grasshoppers hit me in the face, one under my nose and upper lip and the other hit under my left eye, guts went in my mouth and up and under my riding glasses into my eye.... Man went blind for a sec or two , it almost knocked me off my bike and it hurt like hell,in fact it gave me a black eye and a fat lip.Good thing I was out in the back roads with little traffic. Ouch! it still hurts when I think about it ENO

Bees! HA!. Try a pheasant to the face. Now that hurts like hell. Coming into a corner on my KZ1000st about 7 years ago and a pheasant got up and somehow got behind the fairing. Hit me right in the face. Then I couldn't see and next thing I know the road got really soft. Then the front wheel jammed sideways and I flipped ass over tea kettle. Slid across the tar and another good ways into the ditch on the other side. I do have to say the road rash and broken bones hurt more than that f'ing bird did. Then I had to put my knee back in place and walk for help. Luckily I had my pal Jack Daniels to help with the pain once I got home. That is why I alway wear a helmet and 90% of the time have my leathers on.

I've had several bug/bike experiences over the last 30 years but my worst occured last summer. I was riding through downtown Omaha, Nebraska on a hot August afternoon. I was in the left lane of Dodge Street, turned my head to check the right lane and a bumble bee slammed into my left ear. What's the first thing one does when you have something in your ear? Thats right, I stuck my finger in my ear which drove the bee further into the point of no return. For some reason, it never did sting me (he was probably as scared as I was about the ordeal) but it was a very uncomfortable 35 mile ride back to Iowa. I got home ASAP and my wife extracted the half dead bee from my ear canal with a pair of tweezers; not a pleasant experiece for either of us. I normally wear a full face helmet - because it was so freaking hot, I grabbed my half helmet that morning; the rest is history!

Worst bee story was in a cage. Driving down the freeway, window open, elbow out, eating a burger, Felt some fall into my lap so I picked it up and threw it in my mouth. Turned out it was a bee that stung me in the lower lip. Talk about fat lips! Worst wearing a full helmet thing was a trip down through Baja one year. Had to suck some gas from a tank down around the San Felipe turn off for some reason and swallowed some. Riding further down with the full helmet on, I burped, and god did it smell bad! Had to stop and clear my head for awhile and drink some water. On the same trip, coming out of La Paz into a draw, I noticed two guys looking at me up on a hill. I thought, "What the........." just before I saw their flat bed truck on the side of the road with bee hives on it all thrown around. I had just enough time to hunker down behind the windshield (no helmet this time) when I smacked right into a swarm of bees. Made a big mess but I didn't stung at all. Lucky I guess.

I rode directly into a swarm of wasps. Actually, they more or less flew into me. Needless to say, I thought I evaded them safely until I realized 3 or 4 of them somehow managed to get into my t-shirt. Stung the hell out of my chest and stomach. I had to immediately stop and shake them out. I about near laid it down cause this all happened going into a pretty tight turn. Let me tell ya, those things hurt so bad, I nearly lost my breath.

Caught a huge yellow-ish moth right on the lips in broad day light. Wipe with the sleeve proved my suspicion that I had yellow powder all over my lips. No guts though, I got lucky. Also lucky my mouth was shut at the time. That would have been like swallowin' a hummingbird whole!

Two come to mind.Years ago riding with full helmet a big wasp(blue/black kind) flew up under my helmet and landed RIGHT BETWEEN MY EYES,I,m going 55mph and thinking if this thing stings me my eyes are going to swell shut. I'm grabbing brakes and at the same time trying to blow upward my helmet,lo and behold this thing just drops down and flies off S.O.B. was I happy! The other time riding home from work , down a road going thru orange groves I keep getting stung by bee's,when I get home and take off my shirt ,I have about 15 dead bee's and the welts to match.

If a 4lb. june bug is bad, imagine getting nailed by a Bat at dusk. I've taken a couple of birds out too, poor little guys didn't stand a chance.

We were just starting a job I was striping top soil with a 963 loader and I scooped up a ground hog home.... I must have hurt his leg because he jumped outta the bucket and was dragging one of his back legs along... So I decided to take him out of his misery and I run over him with one of the tracks.... Oh boy not a good idea with the super and my boss standing there.... That thing popped like a bomb and guts flew like 50 feet with some of em landing on my bosses... I freakin laughed like crazy when they took off running to the supers trailer to clean up..... hmmmmm maybe that's why I didn't get a raise last year! Donnie

Summer of 71. Riding back roads in SE Arizona. I was cruz'n around 60 when I saw this black object just floating in the road. Well, after it hit me in the left nipple i realized it had been a big black bumble bee. Hurt like h3LL and left a big a$$ welt. I was wearing a helmet though.

Here is a funny one, to me anyway: I had the wife on back and saw something zing by me and heard an impact so I kinda glanced backward at my wife and she was drawing back to blast me, like it was my fault or something.

Does it have to be a bike story? Africanized bees tried to take over my Dakota today!! There were about 50 of them in the fender and back in behind the bumper when I got out of work. I entered through the pass side as they dive bombed the driver window when I started it up. Then I hit the highway...went 80-90 for a couple of mins. They were gone when I got home. Pretty much any mass of bees out here in AZ are Africanized...that's what the exterminator said. I wanted to know for sure if that's what they were. SO if there were any bikers behind me here in the Mesa area...there may be a post on here about it!! "UHHH I got hit with like 50 bees!!!"

Last spring, while riding in a group an a nice warm day, took a yellow jacket inside my 1/2 helmet. Sucker stung me, while negotiating some twisties. Started banging on the helmet and figured I squashed the bastard. 1/4 mile down the road, he stung me again............ A minute later, felt something fall into my ear and panic set in, figuring the "RAMBO" bee was still alive and going in for the kill. Thank God, he was dead this time. Started banging the crap out of the helmet again and we pulled over at the first safe area. Whole side of my head swelled up, but glad that's all that happened. Guys behind me were laughing thier asses off, figuring what had just transpired. Damn, I hate Yellow Jackets..................................

I have told this story countless times, but it's always a good one at my expense. I was riding my Sporty back to Ft. Hood from Austin, TX with a friend at about 2-3 am in the morning. He was leading on the left side of the lane, I was behind him in the center. We were probably doing 70ish on 195 (I think) and I saw a flash in his head light, then in mine and felt the paid across my face. I think I hit an Atlas moth or some other huge bird-lookin-moth square in my amber Gargoyle glasses. I started cussing and yelling and pulled over, my glasses and face were smeared with bug-goo. I wound up having a nasty bruise across the bridge of my nose like I got popped in the face; no wild bar fight in Austin, I got my a-- kicked by a bug. Late summer in TX, the bugs get real big.
