Default 2008 FLHX to 2008 FLHTCUSE3

Thinking about taking a beating on my 2008 Street Glide to purchase a 2008 FLHTCUSE3. After reading numerous forums about the oil leaks and cylinder problems on the 110s, it doesn't look like HD resolved this issue on the 2008 correct? People have indicated that a fix is to use "aftermarket" sleeves (some going to 113 kit) but, if I will need to do that, I might as well modify what I have already.

I won't have money for an extended-warranty if I buy the FLHTCUSE3. Advice please...

Thanks,

Frank

Does the FLHTCUSE3 come stock with a high-flow air cleaner and the screaming eagle pipes?

Curious how much less they are offering for your trade than you paid?

No they haven't corrected the problem, but they don't all have issues.I put pipes and a SERT on mine and it runs cooler.Switched to Amsoil for better protection.

GET THE EXTENDED WARRANTY! I paid 1200 buck for three extra years and tire coverage. If you're spending 25k plus on a bike, whats another $1200 for peace of mind?

My buddy just had a whole new engine installed on his 2007 96" Ultra at 5000 miles(rear cylinder melt down). You never know,I wouldn't own any Harley without an extended warranty,I know to many that have failed

Frank,
The SEUC3 looks like the only SE for '08 that does not come with a high flow back plate for the AC. As to the oil leaks, so far the '08s seem to be less of a problem. I've got just under 5k miles on mine and so far so good. I'm not saying that there aren't problems, but I'm not sure how much the Internet magnifies the problems. Its a tough call on what you are looking to do. If you were to add everything that comes standard on the CVO's, you would spend a lot more than if you just bought one.

Good luck

If you decide to go through with this...You can always purchase the extended warranty down the road before the standard warrantly expires. I know the extended's arent cheap but could be worth the money if you plan on keeping the bike a long time and ride a lot of miles. To be honest, that's a real ballsy move trading an '08 for another '08 especially in money terms. Is there something you don't like about the SG?

Nope, it is brand-new. Just thought about getting the 110 motor just to have it. Also, don't have to worry about stuff being installed on the FLHTCUSE3 because it ALL is already there (chrome wheels, GPS, etc.). About the only thing you need is pipes, air cleaner, SERT. It is going to be the FLHTCUSE3 or my SG. Wouldn't have anything else. Love the SG for the reasons that I purchased it (VERY CLEAN bike).

P.S. While I was in the HD dealership getting my speakers installed last Thursday, I asked the GM if they had a Copper and Silver Screaming-Eagle Ultra in-stock. He said "yes, there is one in the crate". There you have it...

IMHO--keep the SG -- spend the money on upgrades--motor upgrades--paint---and chrome
