All you can do is shop around.Compare your coverage costs with others. There are many factors involved....where you live, credit score, tickets etc-.

Check with State Farm.  We have used them over 40 years on vehicles and home and always been treated right.  Their prices are always very competitive.

Bikeline/Markel may still have its program where you get a lower and lower rate as the years progress, my buddy here in Texas pasy a fraction of what the rest of us pays, he has been with them for 20 years.

Hey JakeSabre - Has your friend ever had to put in a claim?
If so - was he treated fairly?
I have everything with State Farm - Very good to deal with and pretty reasonable also.
I've only had to put a house claim in - bird flew into my sliding glass door and shattered it - they payed for an entire new slider - no worries here.
Just wondering if cheaper is really better is all?
Thanks...

ok, did a little checking around and here's what i found:
bikeline/markel-$509
allstate-$635
geico-$679
progressive-$398
quotes for about the same coverage or as close as i could to make them all the same. i have a couple more quotes on the way and will post results when they come in. so far i guess i am leaning towards progressive.

Chea Insurance , WoW.

Good thing you're not in BC .
ICBC has a monopoly ,,full coverage = 1200-1400 a year ++

I only insure for 7 months cuause the weather sucks

Use some Caution - If your going with Progressive.
I had a friend do that - he thought he was getting a smokin good deal - then 1 month into his policy - Progressive sends him a bill for the Adjusted Rate!
Nice - Think about it - if its to good to be true - Its probably not the way to go.

Right now i'm paying $533 with GMAC,full coverage w/100-300 liability.Did some searching and here are some results.....AAA $863,Markel $1023,Formost $825,Nationwide $473.
Going to be switching to Nationwide, they had a lower rate with some higher coverages on property damage, uninsured and accessory limit. Also they have a $100 towing reimbursment and a 1yr. AMA membership.

People really ought to start using the search function.  There are at least two other threads about this same topic going on right now.

To paraphrase a comment from one of them, you need to be real careful about insurance.  Asking other people about rates is worthless.  Your rates depend on where you live (zip code), how you use your bike (recreation or primary transportation), the bike itself, what you've done to the bike, what coverage you want, your driving record, and even your credit rating.  Not only that, but the policy statement doesn't show everything.  You need to ask about how they place a value on your bike (in particular in the event of theft).  When they say something like "it's based on book/NADA/KBB value", you need to ask them what that value is.

The only thing that somebody elses opinion about an insurance company means is how well they've done in customer service or taking care of their particular claim.  It has very little bearing on whether or not it's the right choice for you.

I have Foremost, and Pay about $528 per year. That includes 10,000.00 in MedPay and $3,000 in Addons.

Plus when we put in a claim they were the BEST.  Right there, got all the paperwork done, got the check to the dealership for the repairs and when there was a dispute over medical coverage they paid it, so I have no complaints with them.

Does AAA write contracts in your area?  I still pay $290/ year and an extra $27 for $200 RV/Motorcycle towing up to 4X per year.  They're always cheaper than Progressive/Geico/St Farm/Allstate etc. for my coverage.
