Default How to remove sticky clear sheet from fender

I have an 06' Softail Standard and want to go to a one up seat. Under the stock seat is a clear cover over the rear fender under the passenger seat. I peeled off most of it but there is still a good bit of residue left on the fender. I have tried hot soapy water and elbow grease....no luck. I also started to use a razor blade but that I am sure will butcher the paint..also tried buffing out or off with mequires products...no luck...any thoughts on how to safely remove the sticky residue on the paint without damaging the paint? Any help would be appreciated.

Found out years ago that lighter fluid (the kind for zippo lighters) works great at removing adhesive residue and other sticky stuff and not hurt your paint or chrome.
