Default 1000 mile service?

Hello, Can anyone define what is in the 1000 mile (1st service)
I have been shopping around at different dealers in my area
and have been getting different prices,
As low as $180.00 bucks and the high is $310.00 bucks
to me thats a big difference.
I have decieded to let a dealership do my first one and have
it on record, and Then I will do the next one's
But I can not seem to get a clear answer of what is involved in the frist service and when I comfronted one of the service dept ( the one where I boughtmy bike) that was the
the most @ 310.00 why where they so much higher than the others, because I was wanting to keep doing business with them, they
said the other dealers do not do the complete inspection as in the service manual such as tighten all bolts and electrical, lube
all cables, spoke and belt tension ect ect...

So what is the deal, What are they suppose to do?

Eno

Harley Davidson Checklist

Go to the above link. Enter your vin and the service mileage and it will bring up the chart.

If done right there is a lot to do on the 1000.

Read the manuel and do it yourself. You'll save tons and enjoy the cycle more.

If you can get the first and second stamps in your servise history, it helps when you want to sell it.

Torque wrench oil change and a manual..... People take the dealer having to do it a bit to seriously, and simplyend up lighter in the wallet. Nothing in resale value for it....... Document and keep your receipts. No harm no foul....

Owners manual tells you nothing! They refer to tables that aren't in the book! Get the service/shop manual.

It's merely a chance for the dealer to rotate your wallet.

I think every dealer has there own service criteria. Most probably follow the manual. This is basic sh**&nbsp\\;. My dealer here in Pa. goes over the whole bike. Front to stern. Changes all fluids. My thought while bike under warranty let the dealer take responsibility, and you keep an eye on the dealer.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;

Mine changed the air in the tires and told me it was stale.
