I have owned a raging bull and I have also shot a freedom arms. I liked my raging bull alot. It was a deer killer. The freedom arms was a great shooter. I loved that gun. One day after I buy a few other guns on my list I am going to buy a freedom arms.

Always wanted a Casull - especially in a Freedom Arms cannon, just couldn't justify the expenditure... When Ruger put a 454 in their Super Redhawk, I knew it was meant to be as I've always had good luck with Rugers. I've been impressed with the accuracy after only a few boxes of factory ammo. Now I'm debating crowning the barrel, lightening the trigger, and magna-porting it. Then on to developing some handloads for it. Looking forward to a lot of fun shooting & hunting with this rig.

What you are not already handloading.I had the dies before I had the first 454.Youve got to reload cuts the hell out of pirce meaning you can shoot more. Its nothing for me to blow off hundered rounds and onLy cost me about 30 bucks, good trade for lots of big booms and seeing tree fall over from rounds blowing thru it)dont tell the tree hugers).PLACE THE COPS THAT SHOW UP HAVE BEEN KNOW TO BLOW OFF FEW ROUNDS TOO.those guys love shooting it but hate knowing there vest are useless.

I've owned my Casull for about 10 years,I have the Premier grade, along with a 45 colt cyl.I bought mine when a friend had a FFL and wanted me to have one, so I got it at cost, back then I paid $1400.00 I'm glad I got the porting on it,it really helps cut down lift, this is one gun I will never part with, well maybe if the price is rite.

I have a Ruger Super Redhawk 454 with a 9.5 barrel. I absolutely love shooting that thing. When you pull the trigger you KNOW you have shot a gun. I have shot quite a variety of ammo from Magtech, Winchester and Freedom Arms ranging from 240 grain to 300 grain JFP.

I have also shot 45 Long Colts out of it. This round out of a gun this size is almost like shooting a .22. I only have one question for you other .454 shooters. Have you experienced any difficulty getting the spent .454 brass out after shooting .45 long colt? I assume it is caused by the spent powder residue from the .45 that the .454 brass extends over. Even after running a brush through the cylinder, the 454 Brass is still hard to get out.

Also I noted one of you said you use a Leapold scope. I would really like to add a scope but have heard that these large guns are really hard on scopes and anything but a very good one and probably quite expensive, will not withstand the recoil.

The one that I have is a 454 Casull Premier Grade.I bought it way back before the prices went crazy. It has a 7 1/2 barrel with Magna-porting. I also had a trigger job done. Also, I bought some snap caps so I could practice pulling the trigger. I have shot full power loads in it as well as medium velocity loads. It is very well made and I'm glad that I bought it when I did.

I baught a Ruger Alaskan A couple of years ago. When I went to pick it up the other people in the gun shop said You going shot 454 out of that Short Barreled gun the flash must be like a flame thrower I laughed Not 454 It can take 45 Long Colt Cowboy Ammo. I can load 45 long colt lead load it down to 700-800-ft per sec real slow plinking round shot it all day. Thats why my next one is going be a S&W 460 5 inch
