Default Burley lite clutch and Champion Reverse problem

Just finished a few hours working on easing the clutch pull effort/pressure for the CFO's 01 EGClassic trike. The Burley clutch lite had some size issue and some grinding was required to make the lever extension not interfer. The new hook is oversized a bit and needs to be reduced in radius to work with the Diamond Braided Clutch cable kit, atleast. The swage may be bigger and the issue has been addressed on this forum before. I will go back and find the thread on the Clutch Lite install that was a hassle with complete removal and back to orig for one member.

Our problem is that the last few degrees of ball and ramp travel causes the 'dog bone' cable connector to contact and drag on the Champion Reverse countershaftbearing housing. I could see the cable move out away from the straight line travel and the dog bone as well. I am going to leave it and see if the clutch engages without slip, adjusted with 1/4 turn of free travel on the release screw.

I may grind a little relief on the bog bone and/or the bearing housing. (After a call to Champion tomorrow)

The effort is really, 'rrrreally', light. I did not think the thing was even releasing. Seems to let go, but the last few degrees and the mechanical drag on the cable is worse than the 27K worn out OEM.

The parts guys had suggested the new ramp (07 LATER ) by itself.Current wisdom among our installer and parts guys is to not install the lighter spring HDoffers. (possible slip with trike weight.)

More to come. Also bought the Kuryakan Boss Blades (levers) for smaller hands. She does like them....

Ball and ramp only or with new diaphragm spring?? Did you wrench the work??

The Burley increases the leverage (arc radius), but by changing the swing, it does cause the cable to drag some on the threaded interior of the release cover (soft aluminum?).

I'll check with the Accessory Guys and inquire re: H-D ez

This is what a little (1/2 mile of) interference on the clutch cable connector looks like.

This is what it does to the Reverse Bearing trap door.

The right side shaft nut is gauled and the housing at 11 oclock is ground up and scarred.

The HD EZ kit is in the Burley's spotnow.

I did not install them but, It's the H-D set up with the diaphragm spring. So did you install the H-H set up? Are you having any more problems.

Put the H-D kit partially in today. The diaphragm spring is still in the box. The lads at the Accessories side said the Ball and Ramp would lighten the pull, but did not have a % without the spring installed. It is lighter, but I am not the rider that must be impressed. If she wants, I'll pull the primary cover and set in the new spring.

When I pulled up the cover over the Burley, I knew it wasn't right. I just had to let her try it and it got worse real, real fast.

The new cable pull felt like pulling a little ball chain over a table edge. I did not even see the gauling on the counter shaft nut until I looked at the jpegs. Working in the garage, without really enough light.

She did not get a ride tonight. I seems like all is good if the tranny does not have any shavings in it.

She got out on our test fit for a trailer. Likes the easier pull and is still getting used to the Kuryakyn Boss Blades Levers. They are wider and curved to pull tight to the hand grip. They also set closer to the grip to start.

Tried to post this earlier, but hit the 200MB limit in the forum again.

Look at the cable rub on the entry point into the housing (makes sense with vector change) and the damage on the connector.
