I have a friend who ask me to help him fab an exhaust for his bike.  Short of a pipe bender, any ideas on how to make small final adjustments to the bends?  We plan on having the initial bends done by a muffler shop.  Once bent we will fab a bracket to hold the rear of the pipes and then wrap in black exhaust wrap.

I have heard that you can pack the pipe with sand and do fine bends to the pipe.  The sand keeps the pipe from kinking.  But you have to pack the sand in tight, plug one end and tamp it in so there is no access room in the sand.  The pipe should hold its shape as long as ya dont  get to mean with it.

From what I've seen most builders make pipes from various lengths of prebent tubing all fitted together with tack welds until they have the design they want before finally tig welding the joints, polishing and then chroming, coating, etc.

This is definitely something I think is best left to the pros.  But, I got access to  a pipe bender so Im gonna give it a shot!

Often wondered what happens to all the cracks & crevices in those welds as moisture invades them.
