Gonna be a good one or is it?  Georges St Pierre vs Matt Serra.  St Pierre is viscious and Serra's coming off an injury.  I am rooting for Serra and hope he has St Pierre's number.

Yeah Serra's first win against GSP was a fluke.  GSP underestimated him and I'm sure he won't again.

Serra is a clown and mediocre at best.  GSP should pound him.  I agree that the first match was a total fluke.

Im not saying he will beat GSP but, Ive seen some of Serra's other fights and I think he is better than what most people think. Im not a big fan of either . I just hope it is a good fight.

I'm sure GSP can throw a better spinning backfist than Shonie Carter can.

Given GSP's track record how did Serra beat him?  GSP won a squeaker against BJ Penn (who I thought physically kicked the snot out of GSP, but GSP out techniqued BJ).  I believe GSP beat Matt Hughes too.  On paper it looks like GSP will blow right through Serra but I am rooting for Serra.

No question about it. And no excuses either. Serra
won their first match fair and square. I do however
believe that his 15 minutes of fame is over. GSP has
fought twice since losing to Serra and has won twice
in great fashion. This will be Serra's first fight back.
Not a small task by all means. Being from Montreal,
you could only guess who I'm taking to win.
Btw, I'll be in 6th row. So if you want me to say
hi to Serra, I'll send him a shout out on your behalf

the first fight was not a fluke by any means. Serra threw a shot meant to hit GSP and it did, I do however believe GSP underestimated Serra in that first fight and he will not again. GSP takes this one

Crazy Canuck,

Would you?  I dare you. That would be the best.

I have a friend who is a professor at Dawson College and I am trying to talk him into going and watching the fight.  Its in his back yard.

I am impressed with GSP and shocked he dismissed Matt Hughes with ease. I am rooting for Serra to derail the Canadian bullet called GSP.  I would do it myself but I can't get the time off work.  The suns in my eye.  Left shoulder pain.  Vision is off slightly.  I'm on call and cannot venture to far off.  I have pets and I can't leave them unattended. Let me see....oh yeah there would have to be a whole set of new rules.  No hitting above the waist.  No hitting below the waist.

Too funny man. You could run around the octagon
for 5 rounds, try not to get hit, and get a draw...
What ever the outcome between them, I hope it's a
good fight. With GSP winning of course.

I hope Serra gets a "Fluke" armbar on GSP and taps him out by round 2. Don't really care for either one, but pulling for the underdog who, strangley enough, is the Belt Holder.

Serra doesn't stand a chance! He's doomed! GSP is the best pound for pound period! That little pansy dodged Hughes for 1 reason only! Why fight them both when I can sit and fight the winner. This one is a no-brainer, GSP easily early in round 2! Think about it, GSP is clearly better and losing in his home town would be like showing up at a party in sweats and a boner! Ain't gonna happen!

Again, I am impartial to either one, but nobody gave Serra a chance the first time around either.  Uhhm, fluke?  I think Serra INTENDED to hit GSP when he threw that punch.  $hit happens. As far as losing in a hometown, GSP better hope that turns out better for him than it did for Rich Franklin. Even IF GSP wins, they'll be 1-1 against each other.  Can you say "Big $$$ rubbermatch?"   Speaking of "ACE" Franklin earlier, I'll say that if Travis can pull his $hit together, he'll win that one.  Travis gave the "Other Best Pound-for-Pound" Spider a tough match AFTER he tried to cut weight.  By the way, wouldn't GSP be considered the "Best Kilo-for Kilo Fighter"?

GSP has been training hard and has become a more rounded fighter. If they were to go to the ground I would have picked that cocky little guy with a big mouth but GSP has greatly improved there too. This is going to be an awsome fight. Can't wait to see someone shut Serra's big mouth.

I am a Serra fan but hats off and congrats to St Pierre.  Serra TKO'ed 4:45 of second round:

quote:

ROUND 1 -- Serra shoots in early, but St. Pierre stuffs it and puts Serra on his back. Once there, Serra ties up his opponent and avoids damage. However, St. Pierre continues trying to improve his position and postures up and lands a solid left punch before dropping into full guard. St. Pierre now tries to work elbow strikes and lands two quick ones. Serra again tries to tie him up but allows St. Pierre to take half guard. Serra takes another elbow and has his right eye swollen shut. Serra tries to work the butterfly guard, but St. Pierre uses it to get sidemount. Serra gives up his back and eats hammerfists. After a quick scramble, Serra gets back to his feet but is tossed back to the ground. Serra again uses the fence to get back to his feet and finally breaks free. Back to the center of the cage, St. Pierre tags Serra with a Superman punch and then takes him back down with a double-leg takedown. He gets in a few punches before the round ends. MMAjunkie.com has it 10-9 for St. Pierre.

ROUND 2 -- St. Pierre checks a leg kick and quickly puts Serra on his back again. Serra inches back to the fence, likely in hopes to get to his feet. St. Pierre pulls his legs out from under him, though, and drops him. Serra gets back to his feet, though, and we're back to the center of the cage. Serra partially connects on a head kick and ducks a spinning back kick from St. Pierre. St. Pierre lands five unanswered jabs and then is taken back down from a double-leg takedown. Back to gull guard, and St. Pierre throws a flurry of punches from above. Serra works the butterfly guard but eats punches in the process. Serra again tries to back out and St. Pierre delivers knees to the body while Serra turtles up. Serra reclaims full guard, but St. Pierre easily passes and delivers punches to the side of his opponent's head and knees to the midsection. St. Pierre now postures up and rains down punches and knees to the side as Serra turtles. The blows increase in frequency before the ref jumps to stop it right before the round ends.

Georges St. Pierre def. Matt Serra via TKO (strikes) -- Round 2, 4:45

WTF?  Can I get my money back for this mess of a pay-per-view?  Jezus.  Kalib Starnes should be f'n BANNED from anything other than a g'dam track meet.  F'n coward must've ran 9 miles in that fight.  "Chainsaw" McCarthy should concentrate more on a fight plan than running his big mouth he can't back up.  I think Serra and Lutter have the same conditioning coach as they were both gassed after one round, but to give Serra some credit, GSP was ALL over him in every way possible.  Lutter should be made to pass a freakin' cardio test of, oh say, running more than the distance to the ice cream stand at the end of the street and back.  That was embarassing to watch.  What a d'ass.  Big $$ on the horizon and you don't even think about maybe getting in a little bit of cardio work?  GSP put on a show.  Franklin looked good, but it was against a guy who was absoulutly exhausted because he's a d'ass.  Serra will probably take a fight against someone decent, win, then go for more $$$$ in Serra vs GSP III.  He'll then drop down to lightweight where he belongs.  Speaking of dropping down a weight class, Bipsing looked in great shape at middleweight.  Overall, the crappiest pay-per-view I've seen.

Ain't that always the case.  I been burned by over priced hyped PPV's in the past and haven't subscribed to any in a long time.  I have to admit I was tempted with this GSP vs MS. Glad I didn't.

Again, congrats to GSP.

Well, just got back from the Bell Center. It was a
very convincing win for my homeboy GSP. Montreal
is out of control man. I'm still convinced Serra didn't
have a chance at all. Let's see if Serra wants a
rubber match. My guess is "not".

I don't know about anyone else, but the whole manufactured "trash-talk" that goes on before fights is getting very thin and worn also.  We realize they do it to hype & sell a fight, but then as soon as the fight is over, they're all but making out and yodeling each other's butts in the ring after the fight.   Man, just stop the bs. Once in awhile, two fighters truly do hate each other (Serra - Hughes,  Ortiz- Shamrock) and you KNOW it's not a put-on.  But 99% of the other "Bad-Blood" fueds are fabricated bs.  But getting back to this last pay-per-yawn, I just can't get over how unprepared a lot of them were.  (Even though Starnes showed GREAT cardio in his 9 miles of back-pedalling and running away.)  It's like some were there for an easy payday and could care less if they ever fought again.  I felt almost like I had watched a heavyweight boxing match where two fat-azzes leaned against each other in a slow dance and both got paid a ton of money doing so.  I'm just stunned at Lutter though.  My 68 year-old Mom has better cardio.  He just lost HUGE $$$ by looking like a gassed out ex-athlete who came off the couch at the last minute to be a fill-in for an injured fighter.  All the skills in the world don't mean squat if you gas out quicker than a '73 Caddie with an ounce of fuel in the tank.

crazy canuck,

Did you give a shout to St Pierre for me? What did he say?

Good for you for being able to attend.  If I was more dedicated I could have stayed over a freinds place by Dawson University and attended.

Parts of Montreal are great.  Where my friend the uni professor stays reminds me alot of the eastside of Providence Rhode Island where Brown University, RISD and Thayer street are.  However I got lost in Montreal once and ended under all that concrete hwy shit and couldn't get out of thre fast enough.

Sure is a lot of humanity in Montreal. In the college area anyway people were great, chilled and laid back.  I am suppose to head there in August to volunteer with the quadrapelgic sailing program at one of the yacht clubs.  I was at a dinner there a year ago or so and the program is really impressive. It provides the opportunity for cripple folks to sail by using specially modified boats and with the help of volunteers.

I felt that GSP was winning this fight from the time he lost the first fight with Sera. There was no doubt that he took the first fight lightly...and who wouldn't have ? No shocker here, Franklin looked good, I thought when he got caught up in that arm bar for a second it was all over. He showed great resiliency getting out of that, but Lutter did look like dukey !
