Default Primary Oil/Tranny Oil

Like many of you I refuse to pay huge bucks for HD Oil. I use Penzoil for my bucket and have used Bhardol for primary etc. Any good tips for good oils to use and Whats the oil ratings for primary and tranny?
cheers
Popeye

Do a search in here for several threads on oil. I just sent off some oil to be analyzed to see what is in it.

Man, haven't seen any Barhdal (how is that spelled, anyway?!) in years. Used to see it in every speed shop and at the drags.

Have been using Alisyn synthetic (Aerospace Lubricants.com) in my 96 Dyna for several years. 15w40 goes in the engine, trans, and primary. Shifts great and had to lower engine idle about 400 RPM after installation. Have 45k on bike now. If you need some, I am a dealer and I sell cheaper than on internet sight.

A local machinist near me always asks guys who bring their engines to him, what oil they run. He says the engines showing the least wear are brought in by the guys running Kendall GT1 (automotive oil). I've run it in various bikes I've owned including BMWs and Ducatis. When I finally get an HD I plan to run it in that as well. (Sorry I don't have any HD-specific info, but the machinist works on all makes of bikes including HD's.)
