Son left for Boot camp

Well my son left for boot camp today and I am proud of him. We have a family history of serviceand I knew my youngest son Terry would would do his part, what I did'nt know was how it would effect me. That little boy I used run in the creek with at Stony Brook park
is not coming back, he will grow andbe forever changed for the better, but that little boy will be gone. I am happy and proud of my son but I'm sure going to miss that little boy.

cderider and aviator let your fine children know they are appreciated not only by your family but by many others as well. Encouragement and support of their decisions is the best anyone can do for these fine patriots. That little boy who ran with you in the brook is still there and you will realize it now more than ever. He will come back a man but when you see him you will always in your heart see that little boy.

My 6'4 Airman leaves today( leaving for the airport in about 1hr) for a 2 yr deployment to Japan. As he puts it it will be his apartment. We know with his trade and flight status he will be in many places he'd prefer us not to know about. However, even though mine is 24 years old he is still my little boy and always will be.

God bless all of our service people and you folks should be proud of the job you did raising them.

cderider, you'll miss him, but you'll be glad to meet the man that he'll become.
Be proud Dad. You've earned it.
Like others said, tellTerry I said Thank You for his service, and Thank You for raising him right. Kudos, Sir.
And the same for aviator, NHHog and all other parents who have children serving.
Godspeed to all.

I know how you feel from the other side of the story. Left my dad for flight training and whatever else the Air Force hands my way. I love it but be assured. We do not forget you. I always find myself thinking of good memories with my dad, from just shooting the ****, to watching the Maury show and making fun of women who can't figure out a baby's dad. It is your guidance as a father that made us the men we are today. (And women)

And don't worry, you will hang out again soon and make more memories together. Keep in touch and never forget to tell him you are proud. We love to hear it. Good luck and you and your son are in my prayers.

I hope ya ain't to disappointed when I tell ya this, but, I gotta tell ya, can't let ya keep on believeing a falsehood.

That Little Boy ya talk about, he ain't gone, he will live forever in yer mind, I promise ya that, and that memory will be kept Vivid, kept that way by the conversations you will have about him, with the Man he grew to be.
My Son left for Parris Island over 5 years ago, and that Little Boy we all know and love is alive and well, yers will be too! :D

I am closer to my dad now after 15 years in the army than I could have ever been staying at home. We are best freinds.
