Default Painting(?) chrome dash - options?

Looking to color the textured part of my '03 Fatboy dash panel gloss / vivid black to match the tank & tins. Itis chrome. I know I can buy a "stick-on" kit, but I'm considering buying the chrome extension to replace the leather piece and I'd like to "black out" the textured part of this also - the kit wouldn't cover this piece... Is there a paint that would adhere to the textured chrome & what prep would be involved? I could go the powder coat route, but I'm not sure these pieces would take thetemps./ baking. Anythoughts, suggestions, or other ideas are appreciated !

since it's textured you will have to sand or bead blast the area to give it some tooth, then prime and paint like any other metal surface. If you remove all the rubber and elec. comp. it should hold up to PC temps, it's only 350 to 400 F.

Some say scotchbrite pads will rough it up enough to make paint stick but I have not personally tried it.
