I am concerned about corrossion working its way from the underside of the fender because of all the road grime that gets thrown from the tires and collects under the fender. I thought maybe someone would have a good way of accomplishing this. I was washing the bike yesterday and started thinking about this.

Unless you are riding on salty roads all the time, it is nothing to worry about.

I thought I'd heard everything by now... this is a new one! Never even thought about caring whether the underside of my fenders were clean or not.... don't think I ever will unless someone comes up with a good reason.

It's really a simple matter. Corrossion. Why do you wash and wax the bike in the first place? Protection and appearance. Why should it be any different if corrossion starts on the outside or underside of the fenders. I would think that with all the road grime that gets thown from the tires this is a logical question, especially here in Wisconsin during this time of the year. With all the salt and sand that gets put on the roads during the winter I would rather be safe than face the alternative. Maybe I'm wrong and it's not a big deal, but I thought it was a valid question.

CWALMS It Was A Valid Question, Your Just Like Me I Like My Chit Clean Top Bottom And Both Sides. And Your Right About The Corrosion From Salt And Sand , Get It Off. Call Your Local H-D Dealer And Ask Them What They Do. What I Do Is Use An Old 409 Bottle Fill It With Car Was Soap 50/50 Mix And Spray Under the Fenders And All The Places I Can't Get To, Then Use A High Pressure Water Hose After I Wait About 15 Min And All The Juke Comes Off Real Easy Good Luck And You Was Very Right To Ask That Question Harley03joe

Thanks for the tip HarleyJoe. And, you're right, I would rather take care of my chit than worry about what someone thinks about cleaning the fenders. Keep the rubber side down!

IMHO, anyone who cleans the undersides of his fenders definitely has way too much time on his hands.

Totally legit question. I noticed one time the way it was sitting I could see right under the back of the front fender and there was a half inch of shit "caked" on it. I put some S100 Total Cycle cleaner in a spray bottle and shot it under there and sprayed it off with the highest pressure setting on my hose. Do it every time I wash my bike. Takes a few seconds. I also spray it under the entire bike. Works great.

simple green, pressure washer or high pressure water hose..do it every time you wash the bike and you'll never have any build up....it may take an extra min or two... just in case your pressed for time...

Sorry, but any time I turned in a vehicle the Motor Sgt. went over it very carefully even looking up in the fender wells for dirt. Guess it carried over. I want all the dirt and grime off when I clean my bike. I have a small pump sprayer that I put Simple Green in, pump it up and use the wand to get into all the nooks and crannys, up under the fenders etc. Let it sit a bit and hose it off. Has worked great for me for years.
