How to shorten your windshield.

1. Make a template out of poster board by marking the board along the original curve of the windshield, and then cutting the board on the mark.

2. Mask off the windshield where the cut is going to be. Mask both sides so you do not scratch the windshield, and so it won't chip when cut.

3. determine the height you want the shield, and mark the masking tape using the template.

4. Make the cut using a jig saw with a fine blade.

5. Use a belt sander to trim and shape. do this slowly so you don't melt the shield.

6. Remove tape and use fine 320 grid sand paper by hand to polish the edge to the original factory look.

A Tip from KBES BAGGER...

I have the standard windshield for the Road King, I used a string line. I loosened but did not remove the center bolt on the cross strip, tied a small loop in the string line and hooked it over the bolt. I marked my measurment on the tape at center. Take a pencil loop the string line around it at the desired measurement and mark using the center bolt as your pivot point.
