Default The First 2008 SE Dyna in Europe

Just picked up my SE Dyna Friday and it's already made it to a bike show. We just had the Custom Chrome Show in Mainz, Germany with guest stars Jessie James and Cory Ness in attendance. The annual custom bike build off is a terrific event here and draws entries from nearly every European country. The winner attends the Sturgis Ralley as an entrant to the World competition. Ended the day riding the Rhein River and some beers with friends at Benny's Truck Stop. Spring has arrived in Deutchland!

Love the bike and look forward to many miles!

Glenn

Thanks Guilty. I was trying to figure out the sequence number from the VIN, but I see the number is not related to the specific model sequence of production. I'm just happy to have it. BTW, it's my first Harley after years of bikes with names like Honda, Yamaha and Royal Enfield. The attention to detail on the CVOs, i.e. the pulley is cut to match the wheel design exactly, make this bike worth the investment. Maybe they'll add chrome bolts (everywhere on the bike) to replace the steel ones some day and complete the bikes appearance.

Yah I have been slowly replacing mine already to get it right. Found some great caps to cover the bolts in the handlebars after some dremmel tool work and precision tapping they fill the holes nicely and have a finished look. I thought all of them had numbers oops.

GBECK where and what kind of seat is that? How does it feel I like the way it looks. What did you use to cover all the holes or caps that are in the fender. Where did you get that horn cover? It all looks good LOL

The seat is a LePera Barebones with their new tribal embossed Italian leather print. They have it in tan and black as shown on my bike. The embossing is gray which goes PERFECTLY with the marbleized paint (blue & red SEs only-sorry). My butt tells me it's more comfortable than stock and I have done about 100 miles in the saddle on one ride without aches. It has the minimalist cushioning, so it drops your seating position at least an inch giving it that slammed look and your arms are straight out in front of you. A great street rod feel.

I have not capped anything yet, but a buddy on this forum took his to the local dealer and individually covered nearly all steel bolts with the chromed plastic covers. If you buy the pre-packaged set of caps you'll probably pay more than you need to.

The skull horn is from http://www.chromedomemotorcycleproducts.com/. The workmanship is top quality and easy to install. They create several designs with eagle and skulls. Some have LED eyes which will undoubtably draw more attention!

I also replaced the tail light with the stock chrome over plastic 20 LED tail lamp from HD. I have the red lens which I thought wouldn't fit with the smoke turn signals, but it's just fine, and bright! Beyind these three mods I am giving my bike a chance to break in before I install the SERT and new pipes, but I haven't made a choice of which ones to go with yet. Maybe Big Gun 3s from Sampson. I want performance and a throatier tone without too much extra noise. I live in Germany and the polisei get a bit pissy if you take away their silence. My fellow bikers, mostly pilots and military police, call it the sound of freedom! So we'll see which pipes got the nod next Spring.

Did you have holes and plugs in your fender when you took the stock seat off?

I hate to trouble you but can you send me a larger pic of your bike so I can really see the seat and fender from the sides and back? deshooter@yahoo.com

deshooter,

There are four holes. One is for the passenger hand strap bolt, one hole for accessory attachment that is plugged with a smooth plug and two holes to mount a two-up or solo seat respectively. When you remove your seat you'll see a plastic retention clip holding the seat receiving nut. To mount the solo seat you'll remove the HD logo'd plug and reposition the receiving nut to the forward (empty, notched hole). I used a string to feed it up to the hole since there is no way to get your hand in that tight space. With a seat installed you have all the holes filled.
