Opinions Please

I've been thinking of changing out my handlebars and I already have an idea of what I want but wanted to get opinions from the board. What would you do?

I'ld get shorter risers and install 12" apes or 'Z' bars. Old School Cool!!!!!

Check out biltwell's bars. Very good guys with price and quality you can't beat.

I think a set likeI got would look pretty cool on that ride.$15.00 swapmeet special...........You can't go wrong with Biltwell stuff either

Thanks for all the input so far. The biltwells do look cool, but right now I'm leaning toward keeping the existing risers and changing the bars to buckhorns. I saw a thread a while back where someone asked for pics of b/h's with a wide glide front end, which is what I have. I like the look and the feel. Another possibility is to put on some mini-apes with shorter risers. I think the apes would be better for slow speed handling too. Even tho' I'm not crazy about the existing bars, they are the most comfortable ones I've ever had - maybe that's why I lean toward the bucks, similar hand/elbow position, just narrower by a couple inches and a little higher. No drags, sorry - the look, the feel, nothing I really like about 'em.

well Id go drag bars. but you said you where looking at buckhorns so.I just like drag bars on old bikes give it that minimum look of less weight go fast.

Any handle bars that spread my shoulder blades are most confortable, I've had apes, drag and buckhorns and the drag and apes were the best. Drag bars give you the best control. When I had buckhorns on my stock 86 Softail my shoulders would hurt after about 50 miles because I was pulling up my shoulders to grasp the grips on the buckhorns.

Yeah, can understand that position. I think for me, the 3 main points of contact are the most cruicial - the pegs, the bars, and the seat. I've already got the seat and pegs pretty close to what I want, now getting the bars right. My elbows like the "thumbs up" hand position the best, I think, and that's why buckhorns are the most preferred.My back has plenty of lower lumbar support and the pegs are forward enough to allow anice relaxed posture. I think the trick for many is finding the right balance between "cool" and "comfort".
