They were popular in Canada but never made it in big the US.

Oh, so we've got another new rule. If you Americans don't know who anyone is then the one song you DO know makes the band a one hit wonder?

Gordon Lightfoot a one hit wonder?...Yeah right!
Lighthouse? Yeah right again.
T-Rex???? You're kidding right??
Norman Greenbaum? Didn't he also do 'Little Green Bag'?
Tom Cochrane and Red Rider. I suppose someone is gonna soon put up one of Neil Young's or BTO's or The Guess Who's songs.

"Smooth Criminal" by Alien Ant Farm. I have no idea why that song came to mind...

Doesn't it have to be written by that band to qualify?

This song is written by MJ (Michael Jackson)

I vote for Talk talk by Kaja GooGoo

I didn't know there were rules...  Regardless, it was a hit for them as well. How about "Kryptonite" by 3 Doors Down?...

3 Doors Down aren't a one hit wonder. Granted, 'Kryptonite' might be the song that got the most air time, but they're still on the air here in Atlanta. Heck, they just put out a new CD that's not half bad.

.. but did their other songs get much airplay? Every one hit wonder recorded more than one song, but one hit means only one went gold or better.

Let's see....just off the top of my head:
Kryptonite
Loser
When I'm Gone
Here Without You
Better Life
Away From the Sun
Father Son
I stand corrected.

Note to self.

1-Check with our Canadian neighbors before posting any artist in this thread to be sure they didn’t have 2, 3, 4 or 15 hits in Canada.
2-Google said artist to be sure they didn’t have a second hit anywhere else in the world so Comfortably Numb stays happy.

Note to Comfortably Numb.

It looks like we have 2 new rules now.

So many of these songs that you list wern't real hits. It might have been the only song that reached the charts but they arn't hits. The two biggest "hits" are 1. 2525, Sager and Evans and 2. Achy Breaky Heart, Billy ray Cyrus.

I've been accused of some long posts, so yes, I didn't write that one in. But I do have it burned on my "Horn Rock" CD that's in my bike now.

That was the closest to a hit they ever had. Just heard on Sirius 16 last week "Down to Stems and Seeds" which is another CC and the Lost Planet Airmen cult classic.

A few from the 90's? What band did "Creep"? Whatever happened to the Gin Blossoms? Still play Edwyn Collins' "A Girl Like You" with the space guitar once in a while.

Got that one burned on the "Horn Rock" CD as well. Love that Southside Chicago (Archer ave. for you locals) polish neighborhood accent "All I know izz dat I fell in love wiichuu"!  Today I heard "Magic" by "Pilot", not one of my faves but got me to thinking about some of the mid 70's one-hitters. Always did like "Beach Baby" by "First Class"
