I hope this helps at least 1 person. Many people have complained about the 110" engine and I've even read where people have passed on a new CVO because of all of the complaints they've read on this and other forums and that's just too bad, those folks have missed an opportunity to own some great bikes. I have a 2008 Thunder Mountain Custom, the Keystone model, powered by the mighty H-D Screamin' Eagle 110" engine and I have had zero problems. After I broke it in, around 500 miles, I had my local H-D dealer change the oil & filter, dyno the bike for reference, install bigger cams, Vance & Hines Big Radius pipes, SERT and then dyno tune it. This thing is a beast and like they say "There's no substitute for cubic inches" I could not agree more. I ride my bike almost every day, Florida rider, and it currently has over 5,000 miles on the odometer, and the only time it goes to the old H-D dealer is for an oil & filter change and I run this beast, no babying except for she's always kept spotless. So to all of you nay sayers out there, I can't understand how or why you have so many problems with you big inch motors, but I wouldn't give up my big cubes for anything other than more cubes like maybe one of those new Jim's 131". Good luck to all who have issues with your bikes and to those of you who are on the fence about that new CVO bike, if you like it, buy it and enjoy it and if you have a problem, rest assured your dealer and The Motor Co. will make it right. Life's short, enjoy the ride. Peace.

I'm with ya, SmokeEm! My 2008 Se Dyna is getting the SERT and Samson Legend exhaust next week then a dyno tune. I can't wait to get it back on the road and see the jaws drop further than they already do. Having the ONLY Screamin Eagle in Germany makes it even more of a blast. I'll enjoy the attention while I can! Ride Hard, Ride Safe! Glenn Thumbnail Image

6000 miles on my 2007 CVO Dyna. Runs great. No problems. Smoother than my wifes 2006 88" Superglide. No comparison in power between the two. My next bike will also have the 110 providing they put it in the Street Glide.

I installed Rush 2.25" slip ons and a Power Commander III last summer after I had about 1000 miles on her. Pulled 100 h.p. and 112 ft. lbs. after the tuner got the Power Commander dialed in. Not bad for a basically stock air cooled Harley. Does not run hot like some people have complained about. Probably because the air fuel mixture is correct now.Put a heavy breather on it this winter. Not sure if it helps any in the power department but it sure looks tough.

Hey "GBeck", good lookin' SE Dyna, how's the riding over there in Germany and for you "hdchit", I think you might be in luck for 2009 as I've heard rumors of a FLHXSE, we'll just have to wait and see what comes out of Milwaukee next. "Lintzra" mine seems to run cooler as well since the mods but I'm kinda use to the heat as my last bike had a H-D SE 103" motor, which be the way was a trouble free powerhouse as well, even after some mods. Be safe my brothers!

I have had problems with my 110 the cylindar sleve/oil leak.... an I still LOVE my SERK wouldn't trade it - over 7K already and smiling....starting to think exhaust and fuel management.... we will see I am running in line enrichers and I am happy with them!!!! I just want a bit more of that Harley sound.

Nice post SmokEm. Same sentiments and experience here. An '07 110" SERK with zero issues or problems after 16 months, and it is ridden year round, including in frigid weather. How it flies effortlessly at altitude up the steepest of Rocky Mountain grades is something to experience.

I have the 110 kit on my 2007 RKC. 99 hp, 115 tq with SERT, Rinehart TD and SEAC. Not too bad! Pulls like a freight train! Sorry to say that I have had the dreaded leaks . I will pick up the bike next week and start the new season here in NH and see how it goes this year.

First thing I did after buying my '07 cvo was put a SERT on it an richen the idle mixture so the bike wouldn't over heat. No leaks yet. Still worried though!

Bikebehaviorist, Yes I did get my PCIII and Rush slip ons from Fuel Motto. He also did the dyno work. He installed a map in the PCIII when I picked it up that he thought would be close even though at the time it was his first attempt at the 110. After I installed the PCIII and the mufflers I took it in to Jamie to set it up on the dyno. The map he preprogrammed in was real close as it was making 96 h.p. and around 106 ft.lbs. After reprogramming it on the dyno he was able to get 100.2 h.p. and 111.41 ft.lbs. of torque. He also increased the rpm on the rev limiter to 6200 from 5600 since it was still making good power up that high. The best thing about the whole set up is the torque curve. It makes 105 plus ft.lbs. of torque from 2500 rpm all the way up to 5000 rpm and you can definitely feel it. He commented on how impressed he was that the motor didn't ping and rattle when he pushed it hard on the dyno like the majority of the Harley's he has dyno'ed did. Heat is not an issue at all although the baggers by design obviously feel like they run hotter because of the left side exhaust pipe.

hey smokem, i just went the other direction...my last bike 07 s.e. ultra with the 110, now 08 cross bones with big bore 2 sert v&h BR2-1 and se pro air cleaner. waiting to get the dyno tune done, but it feel it pulling hard. no complaints about the 110, just the bike was too f'n heavy (900 lbs, almost) i think the 150 lbs less will make up for the loss of hp's and tq.....who knows, if its not enought ill just sell it and go back to the 110. i did honestly like my 103 in the 04 se electra glide better tho. anywy enjoy the new scoot

It is interesting that all the positive posts here seem to indicate that each SE 110" had some kind of modification, a SERT, pipes or whatever. I wanted to keep my 08 SEUC stock as far as the engine goes and I believe the heat was just too much and at 3300 miles the rear cylinder started leaking. It is now being fixed and I guess I'll go the SERT and new pipes route in an attempt to fend off the heat, I just find it a little annoying that I may have to invest so much more money to fix what might very well be a design problem of the 110".

07 SE Ultra, oil leak happened on the way to the stealer for its 5k service. It already had the K&N filter, V&H dual head pipes & 2" Rush slip-ons, with SERT tuned using Twin Scan II. While it was apart for base and head gaskets, I had them put in Woods TW-7H cams, the new SE tapered push rods, and SE 50mm Throttle body. Again tuned with SERT using TS II. No dyno, but it pulls really strong, much better than before. I'm going to run the SERT data mode just to check what it says for dyno numbers, may not be exact, but I'll have a ballpark idea. This Harley will remain with me for a LONG time.

Tell me if this is just a coincidence or something that makes sense. I have noticed that most of the people who are having issues with their 110's have either the Dyna or Touring chassis and these engines are not balanced like the softail models. So what I'm saying is that maybe the problems lie with the vibrations produced by the combination of big cubes and the unbalanced engine/drivetrain are the real culprits. I know that my 110B idles and runs smooth as silk and I ride with guys and girls that have bone stock Dynas and Touring bikes and at traffic lights and idle these engines/drivetrains shake and vibrate so bad that it amazes me they don't shake themselves apart so I can only imagine how much more the bigger cubic engines shake and vibrate. Just a thought.

That could be part of it. I had my bike fixed - 1k miles this year and no more issues so far (knock on wood).

have an 08 serdk 4 bought new in in Aug of 07 1st one in the area. So far no problems. Added Vance and Hynes tru duals SERTK rush 3 1\2" slip ons with 2 3\4 race tunes baffels, HD heavy breather kit. It has an awsome sounding snap to the exhaust, (in every gear) bike runs much cooler than stock and is the fastest thing I have ever ridden considering it's weight. Dynoed at 98 hp People bitch about having to spend extra bucks to modify a $30.000 bike and I somewhat agree but if thats what it takes than so be it. I would rather spend xtra money to make sure that there is less of a chance that problems will arise in the future. I treat it as one of the family and so far it is the best $$ Iv'e ever spent.

Well SmokeEm, I closed the deal today, your note and the follow ups reassured me that I was making the right deal. I purchased the 105th Anniversary Crystal Copper & Black Onyx Road King, having D & D Slip-Ons, SERT, & SE High Flow installed this afternoon, will pick up that baby noon tomorrow. Guess I'll probably be like a kid on Christmas, won't sleep a wink tonight. Ha! Ride Safe Guys Sure Gonna Miss that Phatboy!

Picked up that puppy yesterday and all I can say is WOW (almost 300 miles). This bike has a great ride, shifts so much better than the ole phatboy, what did they do different? The bike handles twistes absolutely unreal for a bike this size, the phatboy (guys don't get me wrong, loved that bike) seemed to oversteer. Maybe it was just me! I can honestly say that the workmanship on this bike is absolute perfection. I will say that I'm still out on the seat, felt like it pushed me way to much forward and I lost any kind of comfort zone after the first 100 miles. Hopefully Mustang makes a matching seat because I can assure you that my wife won't sit this one. The low cut windshield looks great but for long trips, I'm not sure. And WHO come up with the design of having to unscrew/screw and oil dipstick, you've got to be kidding. The D & D slipons I added sound great, not to loud but a nice deep rumble, turn it loose and they'll hear you coming. All in all love this bike, they do give you (give you, ha) a nice cover, bag liners, and a really descent tool pouch and some handy tools. Purchased the extended waranty due to all the hup ha over the oil leak but I did discuss with the hand that works on my bikes and I feal great about the purchase (the problem is fixable if in fact it every happens). I'm lookin for many years of riding pleasure from this scoot. Man, did anyone besides me see the backyard on the post above from sfarson. Is that scoot beautiful in that sitting are not! Take Care & Ride Safe!

Yea lowhler I love your bike! Almost bought the same one last year. Mine is as smooth as glass and will run circles around my last FXDWG. I think the big radius 2 into 1 looks great on both of our bikes.
