Harley Davidson VideosPost Video and Sound clips here. This forum is for videos pertaining to Harleys, Racing (Street/Strip)and motorcycle related Interviews.
Under 5 minutes of hacked up clips around Clear Lake TX, SE of Houston. I posted the clip to Photobucket (no waiting for download to watch) to solicit comments from you guys on whether my handlebar mount made of thin aluminum strap, the bottom of one of my wifes sandals, some foam and a piece of thin carpet, held on by bungees is adequate. It was a real challenge to find combination soft enough, but not too soft, that also cancelled the highfrequency vibration of my Deuce's 88B. The music is just playing around for variety. I plan a ride (elsewhere in forum asking for route input) from Houston area to WV then on up to New England in early half of June, dates fixed by weather forecast, and wanted to work up a mount and learn how to put of video together. Camera is an EBay Panasonic camcorder....not the latest and greatest but do you think it'll work? I plan to interject a few stills etc and break the 1800+ miles into high points on 3 or 4 under 5 minute clips. Remember now the video wasn't made to take your breath away with the hills and dales around here...there aren't any, and yeah a lot of the "twisties" are intersections....I'm working with what I have. I do however, hope I'll get some comments and suggestions.So...click on the link in my signature and have at it. The Photobucket album also has an under 2 minute clip with better exhaust sounds that I posted elsewhere in the forum asking for various system sounds, and then a bunch of photos of my Deuce and wife's 1200C...both worked over a bit. Looks like a fine job to me! Just need somthing interesting to see. You might try a little talking as you make the longer verisionand you park. Will you be able to pan the handle bars by hand once the bike is parked somewhere to get shots of the surroundings?
I have tried the panning the bars thing but the camcorder tilts with bars big time...some help by tilting bike to offset this but if there was anything interesting that helps or just dismount camera....modified my mount last night to include heavy duty "velcro on camera to my "isolator" and again to aluminum strap mount. Gonna try it out today with a lightweight velcro strap as backup security.
Your point of needs more interesting stuff is well taken but what you see is what you get...Gulf Coast is flat, very few curves...you actually have to look for them. Industry is everywhere to mar the "natural beauty" of near swamp land. 2004 running parallel to coast southbound is so straight for 30 miles you should have a friction lock on trees as well as throttle. In my future posted videos I will strive to add some local flavor as I find it. But it is challenging to add a shrimper or pelican to a video on a motorcycle.
The experiments continue in orderto hopefully improve my skill and mount etc so I can get some good stuff for the forum on our hill country etc before my TX/WV/MA ride in June. Oh, glad you found site since so many above said they did not John
