Road trip to Reno

Road trip to Reno
Thinking about a trip from Chicago to Reno next March. Wife has a conference to go to on the company's tab and I thought I would leave a couple of days before her on the bike. I can see that I-80 does exactly that, goes from Chicago to Reno, but I was thinking of trying to avoid the superslab and trying something more senic and interesting. Anyone done something similar or have any ideas of what a nice route would be? Thanks for any advice.

March you say....I-80....you might need a leather parka, heater jock strap and snow tires...it gets cold and snow out there up until May sometimes. The great scenic routes in Utah, Colorado and Wyoming, to name a few will be closed....it still winter out there just like in Chicago...

I don't even know what to say now. Kinda silly on my part. I was just so hopped up on the idea of riding out west that I didn't even think that the weather wouldn't be ideal. As I sit here in the middle of April waiting for it to get a little warmer[&:][&:]. Thanks for straightening me out.
